🌊 I had a fantastic virtual coffee ☕ with Alessandro Frigato, a passionate junior marine Environmental Scientist who specializes in the Sustainable Blue Economy through the Advanced Master program at the Università degli Studi di Trieste and OGS. During our 20-minute conversation ⏱️, we delved into the latest research on blue economy indicators in the Mediterranean region and at a global level 🌍. How can academia become more climate-friendly without compromising research excellence or hindering international collaboration?   ALLEA has been actively addressing this question, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic encouraged a re-think of working modes and practices.   In 2022, ALLEA released the report Towards Climate Sustainability of the Academic System in Europe and beyond, offering concrete recommendations to all key stakeholders shaping the academic system. For the recommendations for academies and learned societies, check out the slides below.   Most recently, ALLEA has gathered updates from member academies on their plans for reaching a #netzero target and established a steering group to oversee the collection of data.
