We are excited to announce that we are providing our support to the Ministry of the Environment in a crucial project for Chile. In collaboration with the NDC Partnership and the Global Water Partnership South America, we are working on the development of Sectoral Mitigation Plans (PSM) associated with Chile's five main energy consumption sectors. In the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region, municipalities are at the forefront of climate change mitigation. Ten municipalities in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region are part of the Towards Carbon Neutral Municipalities (Hinku) network, that brings together municipalities, businesses, citizens and experts to create and carry out solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The network published its first annual report in December 2023, reviewing the emissions performance of Hinku municipalities, indicators of climate action and measures taken by municipalities. Local governments have the responsibility and the burden to implement the transition policies, but they have little say in deciding the content of the norms they must execute in their territories. 🗺️   This has consequences for a fair and effective implementation of the Green Deal itself. 🌳   Why? 📢 New funding opportunity for small-scale climate action! 📢 IKI Small Grants has launched its 5th International Call for Proposals. Small organizations can apply for funding with ideas for projects that focus on one or more of the following IKI funding areas: - Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions - Adaptation to the impacts of climate change - Conserving natural carbon sinks with a focus on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation - Conserving biological diversity IKI Small Grants provides funding of between EUR 60,000 and 200,000 and is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Government.
