Women working in Christian nonprofits, I'm curious to know how relationships have influenced your leadership. Would you share your experience in a 5-10 minute anonymous survey? Women are often encouraged to develop leadership skills through training, but research indicates that the relationships surrounding women are at least as important as (maybe more than!) skill development. The study behind this survey focuses on those relationships that help women launch and sustain their leadership journeys, including the type of support they receive through their relationship networks. Participants must be women 18 years or older who are working for or have recently worked for a Christian nonprofit (i.e. church, denomination, para-church organization, charity) registered in Canada or the USA. Please consider sharing this survey with any women in your network who may qualify. This survey is part of a PhD dissertation at Eastern University. Thanks in advance for your time and support!

Former US Secretary and CEO of the Latino Community Foundation, Julián Castro and Noramay Cadena (Managing Partner, Supply Change Capital; Cofounder and Managing Partner, MiLA Capital; Board Director, Latino Community Foundation, CARE) joined NACD Northern California's Latino Cafecito today to dive into a dynamic discussion about how Latino directors are spearheading the flow of capital, both philanthropic and investment-oriented, to uplift their community and foster entrepreneurial growth. The session, moderated by Sandra R. Hernández, M.D. (President and CEO, California HealthCare Foundation; Board Director, 23andMe Inc., California Health Care Foundation, California Office of Health Care Affordability, National Academy of Medicine Leadership Consortium) was important in highlighting the importance of the Latino community in the U.S. and how board directors and philanthropists can support the pursuit of economic and social impact in this community. Key takeaways and the full recording can be found below: 💡 Gain Support for Latino Representation Using Data💡 ☑ Encourage your boards to evaluate the representation of Latinos on the board and executive team with the economic data to back it. - Note the significant underrepresentation of Latinos on corporate and public-serving boards, with less than 5% of Fortune 500 board seats held by Latinos despite making up 40% of California's population. - A UCLA study shows If Latinos in the U.S. were an independent country, their GDP would be the world’s fifth largest, outpacing the UK, France and India. This type of data can support advocacy for increased focus on Latino talent and showcase the power of Latino consumers. 💡Be Your True Self in the Boardroom💡 ☑ Use your unique personal journey and culture as your superpower to provide a new perspective for your boards and companies, and be your true self to help the community. 💡Do Your Part for the Latino Community💡 ☑ Explore collaborations with organizations like the Latino Community Foundation and Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA) Foundation to boost representation and impact. ☑ Harness your network and relationships to expand the reach and effectiveness of upcoming Latino leaders. Be proactive and not reactive in making introductions. ☑ Encourage allies to use their influence to bring Latino voices into decision-making rooms and advocate for equitable representation in private markets. Leverage the philanthropic and economic power of the Latino community, which currently receives only 1.1% of philanthropic donations. Thank you to the generous support of our partner Tara Tays, Pay Governance LLC to showcase our commitment to advocating for Latinos in the boardroom. Find out how we’re amplifying Indigenous voices with Rod Barnes and Barbara Sheehy AAICD MAHRI in our 2023-2026 Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 12-month update. Here's a snapshot of the incredible progress we've made this past year: ✅ Invested $39.2m with Indigenous businesses in FY24, well on our way to our $100m social spend target by June 2025. ✅Supported over 400 Indigenous Communities by delivering 129,474 culturally appropriate books with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in FY24. ✅ Empowered 13 emerging leaders through our Indigenous Emerging Leaders Program, helping them strengthen cultural connections and advance their careers. 🤝 3% of our team members identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. That’s reflective of the community we serve. Together we're amplifying Indigenous voices at every level, and we can’t wait to see where the next steps take us. Congratulations to CONCERN employee Bambi Harmon for being awarded a scholarship through the CrimsonBridge Foundation for Public Narrative. Public Narrative is an art of telling story with a purpose of inspiring and motivating people to work collectively toward a shared goal. An effective leadership story conveys shared values and a sense of hope for the future. Bambi's hope is to use this skill to recruit foster parents, staff and donors for CONCERN. The LeaderBridge Program consists of three components: 1) Partnering with leadership program providers to integrate equity and inclusion practices and increase outreach to nonprofit leaders underrepresented in sector leadership. 2) Connecting nonprofit leaders of color to professional development opportunities. 3) Supporting a network of engaged nonprofit leaders of diverse backgrounds. Through leadership development programs and an alumni network, LeaderBridge seeks to build the power and representation of nonprofit leaders who identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian, Hispanic or Latinx, multiracial, and from backgrounds underrepresented in leadership across the Greater Washington DC Region. By listening directly to leaders, we curate programming (from nonprofit organizations and consulting firms) to meet the requests, interests, and needs of rising, founding, and established nonprofit leaders. LeaderBridge programs offer reduced rates for eligible nonprofit leaders, through support from the Crimsonbridge Foundation and other philanthropic partners.
