Insurance Technology & Transformation Recruiter ☞ ON GARDEN LEAVE🎙Host of the Behind the Desk Podcast
💡 Why can't insurance firms effectively 'sell' their opportunities to prospective candidates? I was at an event recently with several insurance leaders, and the topic of attracting young people to the sector came up. After listening to lots of the discussion my point was simple. Clients that I work with every day often struggle to answer one of my critical questions about the role they are hiring for: "How would you sell the position to a prospective candidate?" Hiring managers rarely have a good answer to this question. So, if we are struggling to come up with a good enough value proposition for experienced candidates who usually already know the insurance sector, how are we ever going to come up with something compelling that attracts talented young people who don't understand anything about insurance and have more choice than ever? Having a compelling answer to 'Why you?' is critical. Spend more time on coming up with a good answer that is consistently reinforced throughout the hiring process = WINNER! 🏆 #attractingtalent #insurance #hiring

🚀 Insurance Industry Poised for Significant Hiring Surge 🚀 I recently came across this insightful post about the upcoming hiring surge in the insurance industry, as highlighted by a study from the The Jacobson Group and Ward/STG Performance Benchmarking. It's exciting to see that 52% of insurers are planning to increase their workforce in the next year, especially within the property/casualty segment (53%). As someone deeply involved in this industry, I believe this growth presents a tremendous opportunity for companies to bring in fresh talent, especially in areas like technology, underwriting, and claims. However, it also underscores the importance of addressing the ongoing challenges in recruitment and retention. With the increasing focus on automation and market expansion, it's crucial for companies to not only attract top talent but also create environments that foster long-term retention. This is where effective leadership, employee development, and a strong company culture will play pivotal roles. I'm looking forward to seeing how the industry evolves over the next year and how we can all contribute to driving innovation and growth in this dynamic field. What are your thoughts on the upcoming hiring trends in our industry? #Insurance #Propertyandcasualty #HiringTrends #Recruitment #Careers #TalentManagement #IndustryGrowth #Whynotstreamline DHA-1

DTC insurance pioneer SelectQuote Insurance Services’s Kristopher Volker and HireClix Founder and CEO Neil Costa teamed up on a recent Insurance Thought Leadership article that provides advice for mitigating the labor shortage in #insurance. Since it started partnering with HireClix on its talent acquisition program, SelectQuote has enjoyed an influx of great candidates. Kris and Neil credit this success to a fantastic partnership and innovative strategy. 3 tactics that are key in SelectQuote’s revamped approach to hiring? 1. Start Early – to scale a team ahead of a high-priority event (like Medicare Open Enrollment) start recruiting a year in advance and don’t skimp on onboarding best practices. 2. Get Creative – filling critical roles takes creativity, thinking like a CMO, and deploying out-of-the-box job advertising tricks. 3. Expand Your Talent Pool – go beyond traditional job boards by promoting your open positions on consumer sites, like YouTube and Reddit. Insurance leaders – seeking more advice on hiring effectively in 2024? Head to the link in our comments for more expert guidance from Kristopher and Neil!

Director at The Andersen Partnership - Sourcr Insurance Recruiter of the year 2023/ Connecting Top Insurance Talent in QLD & WA
This one mistake is costing the insurance industry massively. Here's how you can avoid it. In the years to come, the insurance industry will face a big obstacle: a talent shortage that threatens to impede growth, innovation, and competitiveness. As demographic shifts, technological advancements, and evolving skill requirements reshape the workforce, insurance companies must adapt and innovate to attract, retain, and develop the talent they need to thrive. To attract new talent, insurance businesses can start by having a compelling employer brand, offering competitive compensation and benefits, and emphasising career development opportunities. Promoting work-life balance, creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and utilising employee referral programs are also effective strategies. Adaptability and staying ahead of recruitment strategies are key to attracting and retaining top talent in a competitive job market. Need help attracting talent to your team? Give me a call.
