Is your building's insulation up to the mark? 🏢 How much energy could we save by optimizing our pipe insulation? The answer might surprise you. By focusing on thermal conductivity and energy efficiency, we can drastically reduce energy consumption in nonresidential buildings. The right insulation materials, such as R-4 insulation, play a critical role in heat loss prevention and improving energy performance. Consider the HVAC systems; their efficiency is directly linked to how well we manage heat transfer within building energy systems. Compliance analysis and adherence to insulation standards ensure that we maximize thermal resistance and maintain a robust building envelope. The science of building physics teaches us that every layer of insulation counts. Are we doing enough to meet these standards? Share this post with someone who might benefit from this reminder about the importance of proper insulation. What steps are you taking to enhance insulation in your building? #EnergyEfficiency #ThermalConductivity #HVACSystems #BuildingPhysics #InsulationStandards #

Public buildings vary in numerous forms and parameters and face much complex challenge to control.. Here in accordance to energy thresholds of glare, light efficiency and thermal & electric loads, 100s of possibilities were iterated; this methodology helps compromise multiple objectives and figure out the best composition for public buildings. Parameters of mass floors horizontal proportions, ratio of floors above to below grd level, glazing height, sill level and WWR ratios along different orientations were considered for best energy efficiency. As well, the process is repeated along different thermal locations to see how climate affects the final optimum form.

Air Heat System – Low Maintenance Solar Thermal Heating Experience the convenience of solar heating with our easy install solar air heat system, perfect for low maintenance and energy-efficient living. Flat plate air collector uses “air” instead of liquid working medium as heat transfer medium, heats the air with the heat absorbed by the heat absorption plate naturally/ compulsorily circulates the hot air to the hot end, which can be used for heating directly or indirectly through the heat exchanger. Low temperature operation, high efficiency, low heat loss. Economical and practical, long service life. Vacuum Tube Air Solar Collector Heating System The working process is that the sunlight heats the heat collecting core by using the vacuum tube, and the heat is transferred to the cooling fin through the heat collecting core, and the air flows in the box body to take away the heat on the surface of the fin, thus heating the air. The utility model has simple structure and manufacturing process, mature and reliable technology, low cost, and can be used for large-scale integration. Flat Panel Solar Water Heating System Blue film heat absorption plate, strong heat gain; modular design, suitable for engineering series and parallel use; glass adopts float toughened safety glass, with strong versatility #solarheating #renewableenergy #sustainableenergy #ecofriendly #vacuumtubedesign #flattopcollector #airsolarcollector

Join us on Wednesday, October 16 for our next free webinar, Mind the Gap, presented by Geoff Duck and Michael Bousfield: As North American jurisdictions adopt Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) that go beyond ASHRAE requirements, a new approach to exterior wall assemblies is needed. This educational event will explore how thermal bridging affects compliance with BEPS and ASHRAE, emphasizing the importance of considering component performance across multiple facets. Attendees will learn about common insulation methods—interior, split, and exterior—and strategies to limit thermal bridging through effective cladding attachments. The session will highlight the role of thermally broken connections, which use low thermal conductivity materials to minimize heat transfer and enhance energy efficiency. Real-world case studies will be reviewed to illustrate how these strategies lead to significant energy savings and improved compliance with BEPS. Thermal Performance To compile with Building Regulations Approved Document L, most projects require to meet a U-value of 1.4 W/mk². The U value reflect the energy rating for the door. The lower the figure the better the rating. Changing glass specification’s can reflect the energy rating value achieved. Finding a double glazed system with a low U value is hard to come by, but our Slimline glass curtains exceed the current regulations by achieving a remarkable 1.2 U value.

📢 New Case Study Alert! Following instruction of the Earl Kendrick Retrofit team, EK Specialist Surveys undertook a thermal imaging survey of a residential block on Kensington High Street, London. The goal was to identify areas of heat loss, air leakage and insulation deficiencies that could impact energy efficiency across the building to help inform decisions to improve the buildings performance. The EK Specialist Surveys team consist of qualified thermographers who utilised high-resolution thermal imaging equipment to capture detailed data on thermal anomalies around windows, walls and structural elements. Once the data was captured correctly the team then needed to process and interpret the data to ensure it was accurate and usable before providing an in depth report detailing the findings of the infrared survey. 📈 Key findings showed significant heat loss, particularly below windows, where radiators and associated pipework are likely positioned, with recorded temperatures up to 19°C despite an external temperature of only 6°C. Further investigation into insulation levels was recommended as several areas displayed patterns consistent with thermal bridging and discontinuous insulation; both of which contribute to energy inefficiency. This survey allowed Earl Kendrick Project and Building Consultancy Retrofit team to pinpoint specific areas needing attention and make targeted recommendations to enhance insulation, reduce air leakage and ultimately improve the property’s overall energy performance. By instructing EK Specialist Surveys to undertake the thermal survey as part of the retrofit assessment the building owners and property managers were given in-depth insights to take a 'fabric first' approach before much more costly upgrades such as solar panels or heat pumps. ☀ #PropertyManagement #Technology #Innovation #Sustainability #Construction #ProjectManagement
