Have you had happy Lunar New Year? On Feb 7 just before the holiday, INSPIRE people visited the Haesong Public Senior Nursing Home to do some volunteer service for the seniors and deliver a donation. The district-run senior nursing center in Jung-gu, Incheon, accommodates the elderly suffering from conditions such as dementia and stroke. Our people spent time with them while assisting them in doing dementia cognition programs, meal-serving, and cleaning up the facilitiy. Chen Si, President of Mohegan INSPIRE: "Very warm and rewarding to see our people building relationships with the local community and celebrating the holiday in the meaningful way. We will continue to build such relations and bring our Spirit of Aquai to daily life."

This Children’s Hospice Week, we need YOU to take on Together for Short Lives’ 99,000 Steps Challenge to help children all over the UK like Oscar. Oscar was born with quadriplegia cerebral palsy, a four-limb movement disorder. In 2019 as Oscar’s condition declined and his needs began to change, he was referred to Little Havens Children's Hospice. At Little Havens, everything Oscar loves is around him. The respite is a fun time for Oscar on his good days, or he can have a more restful stay with round-the-clock care. Oscar’s mum, Adelaide, says, “It’s much more to us than respite; they help to get the best out of each day for Oscar. If he’s having a good day and really smiley and happy, they go outside because they know that’s something he loves and is important to him. They want to make Oscar happy, and that’s what Little Havens does for us as a family – nothing is impossible.” Children's hospices are a lifeline for families like Oscar's. But with a growing number of children needing support, and the rising costs of care, hospices are being pushed to their limits. With your help, services can be there for families today, tomorrow, and into the future. Sign up for Together for Short Lives’ 99,000 Steps Challenge today: https://lnkd.in/eERsJrKa And with one small step, you can make one huge difference. #99000StepsChallenge #ChildrensHospiceWeek

It's no secret that bees hold a special place in my heart. These 'small but mighty' creatures were my inspiration when starting a nonprofit, Bee Mighty, over a decade ago, as our tiny son survived an extensive stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Recently, Forbes highlighted the parallel between bees' hard work for their hive and how organizations can integrate this mindset into their brand. Bees are Superpollinators, contributing a remarkable $14.6 billion to the U.S. economy annually by serving their ecosystem. They exemplify the importance of purpose-driven work. The article emphasizes the significance of a clear purpose for both organizations and their members. It's not just about going through the motions; a shared purpose enables teams to achieve greatness and navigate tough times together effectively. #CSR #purpose #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SocialImpact Explore the full Forbes article here: https://lnkd.in/gv3VSfyz

Meet Sam, a Certified Child Life Specialist. “I’m Sam. I currently work as a child life specialist on an inpatient unit primarily serving neurology, burn trauma, complex care, and cardiology pediatric patient populations. Child life is so important for children’s health because it caters to the uniqueness of the medical experience on a child’s overall well-being. Child life considers the impact hospitalization has not only on physical health but on children’s development and emotional health too. Child life supports, empowers, and encourages children. Organizations like enCourage Kids work hard to provide resources for families and hospital programs across the country which transform the patient experience. Utilizing Teddy, or other stuffed animals with patients is powerful. Stuffed animals are non-threatening and help with normalization. Stuffed animals can be used for play and comfort, but also teaching. I use stuffed animals to help patients understand various procedures. Using stuffed animals has allowed patients to show their understanding, ask questions, and express their emotions.” To support child life specialists like Sam and the hospitalized children they serve, donate today. https://lnkd.in/e9v4u2UX #childllifemonth #childrenshealth #childlifespecialist #childrenshospital #encouragekids #playtherapy

Access to healthcare in rural areas continues to worsen. #Maternity care deserts are getting drier and larger. #pediatriccare deserts in these areas are following suit. I am happy that influential #policy making bodies have recognized the shrinking maternity care issue. #4 in this article caught my attention, "Contrary to widespread perceptions, low Medicaid payments and uninsured patients don’t explain rural hospitals’ money woes. Indeed, more than 40% of births in rural communities are paid for by private health plans, many of which provide insufficient payments for the range of maternity care services." ---- the issue--- these rural hospitals have no leverage when negotiating contracts with private health plans. That is what needs to change. There are very few businesses in the modern era that do not set the price of their product --- which over time adjusts through the motion of supply and demand in a competitive market--- but in medicine, hospitals are not truly in a competitive market. But what continues to be left out of most of the news is that Pediatric and Newborn care is following the same path as maternity care. Access is shrinking. Complexity of care is also decreasing in these areas for children. We need to remember children when healthcare policy is developed: To improve access, to improve continuity of care, to improve many aspects of care, especially behavioral and mental health. I think an important formula (policy changes) to make these changes: Primary Care Teams>>>> + Technology>> + >AI = better care #UsingWhatWeHaveBetter https://lnkd.in/ghmBKMqE

How do you explain children’s palliative care? What do you find compelling to move others to action? Three truths this article highlights to grow understanding of children’s palliative care to move others to action: 🦺 “When children are seriously ill, the whole family is in a state of emergency.” Holistic care that considers the entire family is essential. 🌅 “A children's hospice can provide relief.” Providers can meet the needs of children and families at a critical time - both in and out of formal settings. 🛏️ Great children’s palliative care recognises the needs of the whole family. We loved seeing how this hospice is designed with equal rooms for children needing care and their accompanying family members. #pediatricpalliativecare #childhealth #childrenshospice

Nurses’ critical role in health care is undisputed as they provide compassionate care and support to patients. Patients and families spend ample time with nurses, allowing for a genuine, trusting relationship to be formed. According to Gallup’s annual Honesty & Ethics poll of 23 professions across the United States, nursing remains the most trusted profession. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that nurses play an important role in philanthropy. The compassionate care they provide undoubtedly sparks gratitude in patients and families, unleashing their desire to express thanks by sharing stories and even making a gift. When nurses grasp their role in receiving patient gratitude and assisting patients in expressing it meaningfully, they become one of philanthropy’s most valuable allies for transformative impact. Check out the latest piece from Accordant's Heather Wiley Starankovic, CFRE, CAP, and Erin M. Stitzel, FAHP, on how to partner with nurses to create transformative impact for your philanthropy program: https://ow.ly/R0iT50RB8z7 #healthcare #philanthropy #nationalnursesweek #nursesmakethedifference
