This month, we are thrilled to showcase Veerachenan G, our stellar Yubinaut, as he celebrates his extraordinary journey.🌟 "In my current role, I support various teams including Pools, colending post-disbursement, and SCF product management. However, I've had the opportunity to operate across boundaries, contributing to the implementation and integration of several customer projects, improving operations, strategizing team restructuring, developing business plans/strategies, working on data science models, and occasionally discussing source code with the team. I've heard positive feedback about Gaurav, the CEO, from some of my connections who previously worked at Yubi. I believe a CEO's attitude and intent are crucial factors in determining a startup's success, and I'm pleased with what I've heard about him. Since business school, I've been drawn to the finance industry. With its rapid growth, I felt it was the right time to immerse myself in this field. The #epic journey at Yubi has been an exhilarating roller coaster ride. I thrive in environments filled with ambiguity, as I enjoy creating structure from it, seeing it as an opportunity for value creation. Being part of a startup like Yubi exposed me to significant ambiguity, but looking back over the last 20 months, I feel I've been able to bring structure to at least some aspects of it. I've had significant moments such as being part of India's first lender-side account creation for Direct Assignment, and obtaining initial approval from a foreign bank to use our platform as an LMS. In terms of growth and development opportunities, I started as an individual contributor in the Pools product team and eventually progressed to leading that team. Over time, I've taken on additional responsibilities, including leading the colending post-disbursement POD within 12 months. Recently, I've also taken on responsibilities for the loan operating system and SCF product. Although I joined Yubi as an individual contributor due to being new to the fintech industry, my contributions led to more responsibilities being entrusted to me. Interacting regularly with customers has been instrumental in my professional growth within the organization. Additionally, engaging with industry veterans, particularly CXOs, has deepened my understanding of the fintech industry and enabled me to contribute more effectively. Our work culture at Yubi is vibrant, dynamic, and unstructured. While this can be chaotic at times, I believe we're moving in the right direction. As a startup, being directionally correct is crucial, and I'm confident that in the coming months, we'll begin to add more structure to our dynamic operating methods." So a friend asked me, What are you doing; being non-tech Product Manager in Fintech startup? tu tech se toh nahi, fir PM kyu ? Oouch! I took a pause & thought, what do I actually do: 1. I track-on the market to understand what customers want and keep an eye on what our competition is up to. 2. I chat with everyone - customers, sales, stakeholders , tech ppl - and turn their pain-points into clear instructions for the development team. 3. I play the conductor, making sure everyone – from designers to developers – harmonizes their efforts for a seamless product. 4. While I'm not a designer, I work closely with designers to make our product visually appealing and user-friendly. 5. I stay updated on financial regulations to make sure our product plays by the rules. 6. I team up with customer support to troubleshoot and keep our users smiling. 7. I navigate the financial landscape, keeping an eye on costs, revenues, and profit margins! 8. I work closely with the leadership team to align our product roadmap with the overall business strategy. It's not just about cool features; it's about making the business thrive! 9. I love playing with numbers, analyzing trends helps us make smart choices that benefit everyone! 10. I'm all about cool ideas, but they need to make sense for the business with a purpose! I preferred to reply: I'm doing a lot of work and maybe nothing. New role! Over the years, I've often asked myself the same question (really the single most important question for any reasonably sane person working in professional services). "Can I scale myself, the services I provide and the use of my professional skillset and knowledge exponentially?" Obviously there are lots of great tools for incremental improvement - including hiring associates, using productivity tools and optimizing your calendar. But the true magic is productization.
