🚢 Bringing the Maritime and Judicial Worlds Together: Turning Blue Stakeholder Meetings in the Netherlands 🌊 In March this year, the Dutch Turning Blue team— @PFA, ProSea, @ClickF1, and Stichting 180 — organized the first stakeholder meeting, connecting professionals from the maritime industry and the judiciary. The initiative aimed to foster connections, exchange insights, and explore potential collaborations. Looking ahead to March 2025, the plan is to intensify these efforts by organizing mini-excursions. These events will allow stakeholders to step into each other’s worlds, share perspectives, and identify opportunities for cooperation. The interest between these sectors is evident, and such interactions highlight that collaboration begins with meaningful engagement. This initiative marks an important step in bridging industries for a stronger, more inclusive blue economy. 🌍 Stay tuned for updates! I'm so looking forward to this discussion. We all talk about collaboration and partnership alot - sensibly so, as we can't hope to solve complex, messy social problems on our own, yet attention to what relationships look like is often missing. Donors are hesitant to fund time taken to get to know potential collaborators, or for partners to establish mutual trust, interest and understanding of strengths and synergies, or to contemplate individual appetites for transparency and shared decision making. This is a discussion about the value of discussion - who speaks, how, when and to what effect. What are the terms of reference for sustainable engagement? How do we measure things that matter to/have value for all partners, not just the one with the cheque book? Matodzi Amisi Andisiwe Makwecana Chandre Gould - such an important conversation! Thanks for including me in it. https://lnkd.in/dtdmq6D5

Among the speakers today, the Director of TASC - Think-tank for Action on Social Change, Dr Shana Cohen, discussed the challenges to public participation faced by Irish civil society, difficulties surrounding access, and the need for community level dialogue and the application of international best practices. Dr Cohen also reflected on the differences in ambition between civil society and government. Our own Director of Advocacy & Research, Colette Bennett, talked about the implementation of the partnership principles and the importance of building on those principles. "Through partnership the CV sector can achieve the greatest impact ... we reach where government can’t ... and we can ensure that no one is left behind." #CivicForum2024

💡 Codeveloping interventions helps ensure they resonate with affected #communities. ⌛ Between May 2022 and September 2023, WHO/Europe engaged in a collaborative effort with affected communities to address the outbreak of #mpox in the region. This concerted endeavor led to the development of a risk communication campaign specifically tailored to address the perceptions and needs of the target audience, thereby contributing to the control and the lorng-term goal of mpox elimination. 👉 Learn more from our latest article on co-creating a mpox elimination campaign in the WHO/Europe region: 🔗 https://bit.ly/4eAs9HO Efforts to engage communities need to continue to reach the last mile.
