The story follows 'Papa the Dog' as he embarks on a journey around the Anangu Lands, visiting animal mascots in their respective communities. What sets The Ninti Way Storybook apart is the collaborative effort that went into its creation. The animal mascots featured in the book were meticulously developed in consultation with Anangu staff and families across each site. This inclusive approach allowed the community members to decide which animal would best represent their community, ensuring that the story is deeply rooted in authenticity and cultural relevance. Through the pages of The Ninti Way Storybook, Anangu children are provided with a window into a world where they can see themselves reflected – a world where their culture, language, and environment are celebrated and embraced. Another of the steps of HOW to reconnect - know the people know the land - know the waters - know your kin of animals who walk alongside you The cycle that is the Living System allows all things to be a part of all things. We are a part of the animal kingdom. They are our Kin, they are our guides, mentors, teachers and sages. Every part of the system holds purpose for all to exist, they honour us with their presence. Our animal Kin, are not only companion, carer and protector, they are nourishing and nurturing. And they do so with love. As we honour them with the care and capacity to roam and be free living as their truth, they honour us with their wisdom and their flesh to the soil to our flesh, to nourish us. The depth of companionship that our Kin offers can never be questioned. To walk the lands with them is not only a privilege it is braided into our story and the becoming of life. We cannot be without them. To have a fully functioning whole system can only occur with animals at our side. Who travels the lands? What padfoots, hooves, claws, skin, wings surround the lands and air around us? Who walks leaving story and trails, who flys bringing messages from the angels, who is alongside the waters edge and nestled in the trees?
