The students of today are the employees of tomorrow, and they need the skills to thrive in the 21st-century global economy and beyond. Our education initiatives, like those at the US Chamber of Commerce, unite business, policy, community leaders, and stakeholders to develop solutions from early childhood through high school. These initiatives address a two-generation workforce challenge: supporting today's workforce and preparing tomorrow's workforce. Investing in Wisconsin's Black and Brown early educators is essential for several reasons: 1) research demonstrates how this population of workers have been historically and contemporarily marginalized within the profession; 2) all children and families benefit from a diverse and highly educated workforce and 3) the viability of Wisconsin's economy is partly dependent on the sustainability of this workforce. To better understand their multifaceted workforce experiences, with support from the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA), I designed and implemented a (2022) qualitative research study that highlights the lived experiences of Wisconsin's Black and Brown early educators. Review the study's Blog and Executive Summary to learn more about this important work. https://lnkd.in/e6zPd3Sc

In 2023, the hard work and dedication of our P20 Council members and staff (https://lnkd.in/ecMxSYbW) led to our most impactful and productive year yet! How are we able to make collective progress in improving educational attainment in a region comprised of four counties with different geographies, cultures, demographics, and other characteristics? Together Is How. With our generous funders and partners--ncIMPACT Initiative, myFutureNC, John M. Belk Endowment, and The Duke Endowment--who support our work and our cross-sector, cradle-to-career model (from "P" for preschool to "20" for grade 20/workforce), together is how we are striving to: -expand enrollment in early education to 75% -increase high school graduation rates to 95% -improve postsecondary enrollment success to 65% -ensure that 90% of adults ages 25-44 in the labor force obtain credentials that align with employers' needed competencies Our biggest successes this past year were collaborations that included various combinations of employers, local governments, K-12 schools, community colleges, universities, and statewide partners. Some of these initiatives are featured in the image below.
