📢 🚌 All aboard the Incisive Health battle bus! 🚌 📢 Our last stop before the General Election has taken us north of the border to Mid Dunbartonshire – home of The Gruffalo and Scotland’s most marginal seat in the 2019 election. A seat that changes like the wind, with each election result since 2005 flitting between Liberal Democrats and SNP, it didn’t seem possible to have a tighter election than last, but here we are! In a seat as unpredictable as this, Mid Dunbartonshire voting to re-elect SNP would send a strong signal to Westminster of the continued appeal of the party’s message – especially given the difficulties facing SNP in the last year. Can incumbent MP and health champion Amy Callaghan hang on to her seat, or will Mid Dunbartonshire choose to put their faith in local campaigner and Liberal Democrat Councillor Susan Murray? This bus is terminating here... all change? We hope you’ve enjoyed travelling with us across some of this election’s most interesting battlegrounds. Make sure you follow our channels for our commentary following the 'big day' tomorrow, and do get in touch via [email protected] if you have any questions or requests from us. #GE2024 #Election2024 #UKPolitics

GENERAL ELECTION 2024_ in the UK we are nearing the bitter end of a dirty, grubby, arrested development, and in many cases, unethical election campaign which has left much to be desired_ - with a plethora of manifestos, TV debates, social media hype, news broadcasts, and opinion polls, following a bogged down very muddy campaign trail. Only a few more days to go – will it be all change, or more of the same old same old… Tories: Sunken Sunak has become quite shouty, interrupting ad nauseum, repeating like bile, hemmed in by sleaze, spouting half-truths, and way past his sell buy date. Labour: Starmer is grappling to make sense of what mouldy morsels will be left behind when the Tories lose. Liberal Democrats: Davey appears to be having fun, the rest is gravy. The Greens: prepared to put our money where the mouth of the future lies, acknowledging that environmental sustainability is not optional, in the same way that wealth and health inequalities are not compulsory. Reform: Farage is still foraging, for magic mushrooms, and a manifesto that makes sense in the real world, languishing in his comfort zone i.e. immigration, and that’s about it. In Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland – 4th of July will be a day of reckoning for a dis-United Kingdom. Hopefully, we will not have to tolerate another 14 years of austerity, poverty inducing policies, sleaze, scandals, corruption, cronyism, conflicts of interest, wasting tax payers money, and Tory mis-rule. Hopefully, the electorate have the correct voter ID, and/or their postal ballots. Hopefully, they will vote tactically and choose wisely. My poem ‘Exploding The Myth’ is now in its fortieth year… #toriesunfittogovern #generalelection2024

Here you can find our analysis of the French elections results and their impact on France's governability! #FrenchElections #PoliticalAnalysis #HealthcarePolicy #ImpactAdvocacy
🗳️ Key Insights from the Second Round of the French Elections ❓ In an unpredictable election, France's voters have created a National Assembly without a majority, centered around three political groups. This threatens to create a period of ungovernability. On the other hand, these results mark the return of "parliamentarism", with a potential reinforcement of parliamentary initiative, compared to the 2 previous terms. 📈 The Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP) has emerged as the winner with 182 seats, while Ensemble (presidential coalition) retained 168 seats. The far-right Rassemblement National (RN)secured 143 seats. However, in number of voices, the Rassemblement National arrives first. This poses the difficult question of the application of a left-wing programme that a majority of voters will not want. The presidential majority (Renaissance) arrives in a healthy 2nd position - a damage-control result, that consolidates the position of the President and gives him legitimacy. The National Assembly is now tripartite with no absolute majority, raising concerns over France's governability. What does this mean for France, for the European Union, and for public affairs? 💊 Health policy has been fairly absent from the campaign, overshadowed by security and defense issues. Many key MPs in health policy were re-elected, but we can expect a loss of influence for those coming from the presidential coalition. New faces will play critical roles in shaping future reforms. The next social security budget is at stake, and budgetary texts will be the first crash test of the new parliament. 📅 Who will be the key MPs engaged in health policy after the second round on July 7th? Check out our report below to know more! 🇪🇺 France's difficult governability will weaken its EU position, during at least a year of high stakes as it coincides with the onset of the new European Commission. On the other hand, the establishment of the new European group "Patriots" and the composition of other far-right-wing groups in the EU Parliament should be resolved soon. 🇫🇷 To discover how RPP's 20 years of experience can serve you to navigate this new scenario, contact the Paris team (Salomé Chelli-Enriquez, Arnaud Jacquier, Antoine Canu) to discuss how to organise a strategic political foresight workshop in September. #FrenchElections #PoliticalAnalysis #HealthcarePolicy #ImpactAdvocacy

Today is the day! The polls have officially opened for the UK’s general election, and this is our moment to shine. Staying home or staying silent isn’t an option if we want to shape our country’s future, whatever sector you work in, and whatever your role or stage of working life. Every single vote contributes to the direction we want to take. This election is our opportunity to support the causes we believe in and take an active role in our democracy. I appreciate that many of my LinkedIn connections hold a wide range of political views. Despite our differences, we all value a strong democratic process. This is a historic moment for us all, and it’s crucial that we make it count. Let’s make sure our diverse perspectives are heard. Head to the polls (remember ID 🪪), cast your vote, and play your part in shaping the UK’s future. Yes, there are so many problems to tackle, but the first step is engagement with the democratic process. Last night, I was out delivering personalised leaflets, and snapped this pic from the top of a tower block near my home - looking out west over south London. It was the golden hour as the sun set, over the hospital where our children were born (and where our excellent MP still works as a committed A&E doctor). #GeneralElection2024 #Vote #DemocracyInAction #MakeYourVoiceCount

Le Pen's protégé, Jordan Bardella, accused the “alliances of dishonour” of not letting millions of voters to call for change. Another said Macron has enabled a left-wing victory. A week ago, National Rally (RN) came first. This week, unholy alliances have blocked RN from wining a majority. While Macron’s scheme has paid off, the surprise lead of the left-wing alliance – New Popular Front (NFP) – is imposing itself on Macron. In his speech, far-left firebrand, Jean-Luc Mélanchon demanded the resignation of the prime minister. Soon after, the highly popular Gabriel Attal just did that, saying he was ready to remain in office “for as long as duty demands.” Macron needs a stable government during the Paris Olympics which start on July 26. Mélanchon is eager to move forward: “The president has the power and the duty to call us.....to govern. We are ready." But he used to alienate with Eurosceptic rants, praising Hugo Chavez and defending Putin’s invasion of Ukraine etc. There are divisions within the NFP. The Greens and Socialists are more in favour of collaborating with Macron’s coalition on a case-by-case basis. One of France's best-regarded politicians, former Macron prime minister Edouard Philippe, said the election campaign had led to great uncertainty in France. While RN has failed to win big, the left has become a dominant force. It is now up to the centrists to seek a deal that would re-establish stability in France after weeks of tensions.

The general election so far has been unusual to say the least. A snap election that has led to a campaign that has seemed to last forever. Ongoing allegations of sleaze and campaigning missteps that have dogged the Conservatives. Labour behaving more like a government than an opposition. But above all, we are seeing enormous apathy towards politics and politicians. That's hardly surprising. We've been through the financial crash, austerity, three constitutional referendums, Brexit, Covid and the cost of living crisis, which Putin initiated, but Liz Truss made substantially worse. People want to see improved public services and enhanced prospects. Politics should serve the national need, not add to the sense of perma-crisis. People have had enough. The irony of all of this is that Nigel Farage is set to benefit from the anti-politics sentiment, which also swept Boris Johnson to power. Yet these people are the cause of the problems that they are now claiming to solve. They enormously over promised during the Brexit campaign, and have spectacularly underdelivered. Does anyone remember the NHS bus? Brexit could never live up to the expectations these people established, yet they don't take the blame. Worse than that, they are now being relied on to change things. They are behaving like an arsonist offering buckets of water to put out the fire they started. The UK faces complex problems which will require considered long term solutions, not quick fixes. As voters, we should all be very careful of any politician that tells us that they can turn things around because of their vision and charisma. If it looks too good to be true, and smells to good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. The anti-politics folk, who are peddling magic beans, are doing far more damage than the political classes that they are trying to displace.
