### 📢 Important Update on Alcohol Consumption in Brazil 🍻
I am excited to share a significant study recently published in the *Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública*, focusing on the per capita alcohol consumption (APC) in Brazil. This research, led by Paula Carvalho de Freitas with which I had the opporttunity to collaborate, marks a pivotal step in understanding and addressing alcohol consumption patterns using national data.
#### Key Highlights:
- **Objective**: To establish a more accurate APC indicator for Brazil using national data, replacing previous calculations by the WHO.
- **Findings**: The national APC was 9.2 liters per capita in 2005, increasing to 9.8 liters in 2020. This contrasts with the WHO's figures, which showed a decrease over the same period.
- **Implications**: The study underscores the importance of using local data for policy-making, ensuring more effective strategies to tackle alcohol consumption in Brazil.
#### Why This Matters:
Alcohol consumption is a major public health concern, contributing to social, economic, and health issues. Accurate indicators are crucial for developing targeted policies and interventions.
