There are still a lot of unanswered questions in #FLASH research. At the University of Maryland School of Medicine, we want to truly understand how the constituent parameters that make up an ultra-high dose rate beam influence FLASH-RT efficacy. Securing a productive start to 2024, our open-access technical note on this topic was published today - check it out below. It describes the commissioning of one of our many Cerrobend-collimator-based platforms. Our linac-based electron FLASH system is uniquely capable of high-throughput, and of providing a 1:1 comparison between groups treated with conventional dose rates and ultra-high dose rates with various pulse structures. Our next manuscript on the topic will detail our solution to the all-too-common instabilities seen on FLASH-converted linac-based systems such as ours. Keep ‘em peeled.
