According to a recent survey by Orion, more than half of the financial advisors stated that they plan to invest in more client-facing technology in the coming year. Advisors are also becoming less hesitant in incorporating AI into their workflows, with 30% saying they would incorporate it in the next couple of years. Advisors are also looking to increase the time they spend in front of clients by outsourcing tasks such as compliance and regulatory reporting and portfolio accounting. "Despite its longevity, predictive maintenance technology is not widely adopted." The ARC Advisory Group report posted by Inderpreet Shoker is spot on and correctly identifies the two main reasons: 1. "Data availability, quality, and reliability pose significant challenges for most manufacturers. Data gaps, periods of missing data, or inconsistencies introduce noise and degrade data quality." This issue is why manufacturers worldwide select and deploy products like Falkonry’s Automated Time Series AI Cloud, which effectively addresses challenges such as timely data flow, disconnected sensors, equipment changes, and tag name changes. 2. "Scaling and replicating success across multiple sites remains a struggle for many organizations. Each plant has its unique setup, assets, and processes, requiring custom algorithms and tailored PdM programs to achieve success. While possible, this task is daunting." Daunting indeed! Predicting specific failures is challenging since the same failure rarely recurs, making custom AI failure models ineffective. Manufacturers are now adopting AI-based anomaly detection solutions (like Falkonry’s "Rules" and Insights"), to first identify excursions and deviations (using generative AI running on the corpus of OT data) from normal behaviors, which are precursors (unknown unknowns) to potential failures. When correlations among various signals are found during anomaly detection, they use Falkonry's supervised learning ("Patterns") to identify the precursor events of interest (known unknowns).
