#VaptWithAnmol A "disinfection operation" has been started by French law enforcement in association with Europol to purge infected hosts of PlugX, a known malware. According to Parquet de Paris, the Paris Prosecutor's Office, the program began on July 18 and is anticipated to last for "several months." It went on to say that the cleanup operations have already helped almost a hundred victims who were spread over France, Malta, Portugal, Croatia, Slovakia, and Austria. This news occurs about three months after the September 2023 disclosure by the French cybersecurity firm Sekoia that it had paid $7 to get the IP address of a command-and-control (C2) server that was connected to the PlugX malware. 🌐 Breaking News: Radar/Dispossessor Ransomware Operation Disrupted by International Authorities 🌐 🚨 A major victory in the fight against cybercrime! Law enforcement agencies in the US, Germany, and the UK have successfully disrupted the infrastructure of the Radar/Dispossessor ransomware group, which has been active since August 2023. 🛡️ Targeting small-to-mid-sized businesses across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and financial services, this group has wreaked havoc globally, with confirmed victims in over a dozen countries. Thanks to the tireless efforts of agencies like the FBI and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (BLKA), 24 servers and nine domains used by the gang have been taken down, and 12 individuals associated with the operation have been identified. 🔐 This takedown is a significant step forward in cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in combating ransomware.
