" With #YoungPeople, Can We Guarantee the Productivity and Sustainability of the Food System? " In a world facing unprecedented challenges, from #climatechange to #populationgrowth, the role of young people in #agribusiness has never been more critical. As we look to the future, we must ask ourselves: Can the #energy, #innovation, and #resilience of youth be the key to ensuring a sustainable and productive food system? Why Young People Matter! Young people are the driving force behind #innovation. Their ability to adapt to new #technologies, embrace sustainable practices, and think creatively about old problems positions them uniquely to transform the agribusiness sector. With the #RightSupport, they can lead the charge in developing solutions that not only increase #productivity but also ensure long-term #sustainability. Empowering Youth for Impact! However, potential alone isn't enough. To harness the full power of youth in agribusiness, we need to: >>Equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in agribusiness, from sustainable farming practices to advanced technology and entrepreneurship. >>>Ensure that young people have access to #land, #finance, and #markets. Without these critical resources, even the most innovative ideas cannot come to life. >>>> Agribusiness should be accessible to all young people, regardless of gender, background, or location. Diverse perspectives lead to more resilient solutions. A Collective Responsibility! >> Ensuring the sustainability of our #foodsystems isn't just the responsibility of the young, it’s a collective effort. Governments, private sector, civil society, and communities must all come together to create an enabling environment where young people can thrive in agribusiness. The Future is Bright! The future of our #foodsystems is inextricably linked to the potential of today’s youth. Take Rwanda’s Vision 2050 as an example: if 30% of the population is to be engaged as commercial farmers, the journey to cultivating these future leaders of agriculture must begin now. Empowering and engaging young people today is not just an investment in the present—it’s a strategy for ensuring that by 2050, Rwanda/Africa’s food system is driven by skilled, innovative, and resilient farmers. #Agribusiness #YouthEmpowerment #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #Innovation, #RYAF, #AFS 📸 Jean Bernard MUKUNDENTE / RYAFRwanda

🌱Power of giving back to the community 🌟 Bright Faces Agricultural Consultants, a venture close to my heart, is aimed at empowering women-led small-scale farming enterprises in Kenya. 🚀 In 2019, we embarked on a mission to make a difference by addressing the challenges faced by these enterprises. Today, I'm proud to say that our collective efforts have yielded remarkable results - over 80 farmers, organized into 5 groups, are now exporting their products to different markets! 🌍💼 But it's not just about business success; it's about using business for social good. By enhancing product quality, improving operational efficiency, and fostering sustainable practices, we're not only doubling earnings but also empowering farmers and ensuring food security in the global supply chain. 🌾💼 Our journey has taught me the immense power of resilience, strategic partnerships, and empathy in driving positive change. I believe in the transformative potential of businesses to make a lasting impact on communities and the environment. 🌟 Join us in championing social good through business, and let's create a brighter, more sustainable future together! 💡 #BrightFaces #SocialGood #SustainableBusiness #Empowerment #Impact

I totally agree with you madam Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade.. #Africa is a continent endowed with vast agricultural resources and potential, and the youth population constitutes a significant percentage of its demographic. ■The combination of these two factors presents a great opportunity for youth entrepreneurs to #explore and #innovate in the #agribusiness #industry. #Agricultural #entrepreneurship is an important sector in #Africa that has the potential to #drive economic growth, increase food security, and reduce poverty. With a majority of the population being under the age of 30, #Africa has a large pool of energic and #innovative young people who can create #meaningful impact through #agripreneurship. ■#Measures that empower young #agripreneurs should be a key component of a #SustainableDevelopment centred investment promotion strategy. The very realization of future generations food security, the #sustainable #transformation of food systems and the combat against #unemployment and #distress #migration all depend upon the successful implementation of strategies that make the #agrifood sector more attractive for the youth. ■This requires #smart policy responses that will help young #investors overcome the numerous barriers they face access to finance and economic opportunities, land, information and technical services. Investing in our young agripreneurs isn't just an option—it's an imperative for Africa's future. It's about securing our continent's position as the world's breadbasket and driving sustainable development. At the 2nd Interactive Session on Youth & Women in Agriculture in Nigeria, I met visionaries like JERRY TOBI better known as the 'Chief Farmer of Africa'. His startup, JET FARMS & AGRO SOLUTIONS LTD and #D'More Food, exemplifies the types of innovation we need—connecting smallholder farmers with finance and premium markets across Africa. These young innovators aren't just dreaming of a food-secure Africa; they're building it. If young people are positioning themeselves as architects of Africa's agricultural future, every policy must equally ask: Are we going beyond empowering to investing in our youth? How does this support our women farmers? How does this move us closer to food sovereignty? #YouthinAgric #AfDBinNigeria #IntegrateAfrica

🌱 Picture this: You're at a crossroads in your journey towards sustainable agricultural development. The familiar paths — relying on: 🏦 World/African Bank 👑 Government budgets, or 💰 NGOs — seem to lead to the same destination: economic dependence on philanthropy. It's a cycle we're all too familiar with, one that stifles actual progress. 💡But what if there's another way? 🌍 Consider the alternative: a journey to Kigali, Rwanda, for the 2024 International Conference on Business Models In Agriculture (IBMA). Here, amidst the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes, lies an opportunity to break free from conventional wisdom. ✈️ By eliminating the usual suspects—traditional funding sources and approaches—you open the door to fresh perspectives and innovative solutions. 🤓 Imagine engaging with experts who share alternative pathways, where profitability aligns with ethical business practices and smallholders thrive without reliance on charity. 👉 We don't oppose philanthropy, but without sustainable business models, no philanthropy can succeed in scaling up and sustainably helping smallholders. 💼 It's not just a conference; it's a narrative of change waiting to unfold — March towards a future where agriculture is not just sustainable but prosperous for all involved. 🚨 Join us at IBMA Conference 2024 and be part of the story that reshapes the farming landscape for generations to come.
