How are you enjoying the global summer sporting event taking place in France? You'll notice I don't name it. Force of habit. I worked at Nike in the build-up to the global summer sporting event in London in 2012. As a non-sponsor Nike was prevented from making any association with the event, the name of the event, the logo of the event, the language of the event, such as "gold" (as Nike is demonstrating at this year's global summer sporting event "silver" and "bronze" don't count). To make matters worse, there was a geographical ring fence around each venue at the said sporting event. Only sponsors had access to promote their brand within the boundaries. Worse still, from 1st February 2012 Nike could not use any of its sponsored athletes competing in London in its marketing. Pretty crap for a sporting brand. However, rather than stifle our creativity, it unleashed it. In the face of huge limitations, we leaned into the power of the community of young everyday athletes we'd cultivated in the lead up to the event. We staged our own events in a way that only a brand like Nike could. We found ways to celebrate the magic moments in the big sporting event, such as Sir Mo's double gold without directly showing the athletes involved. I find parallels to the Nike story in the work I do now as a coach. The brilliant thinkers I partner often arrive with a sense of stuckness (is that a word?) around an issue in their work. Given we tend to operate with a negativity bias, it's natural to them to focus on what they're lacking in relation to solving their problem. Luckily, the coaching partnership is a creative process that enables the thinker to focus on what's strong rather than what's wrong. It will support them as they find a way to move forwards. Maybe you're looking for a personal best in your career this summer. If you need a coach, let's talk. #careercoaching #leadershipcoaching #strengths #nike #paris2024

The Importance of Last vs First Impression How McDonald’s snatched Olympic gold in Paris 2024 🥇 We all obsess over firsts - first impressions, first slides, first dates, first interviews….but what about the last impression? The one that sticks, the one that leaves a lasting brain tattoo? In the build up to Paris 2024 Olympics, the big dogs - global brands with budgets fatter than a Parisian pastry - were all battling for our attention. Nike, of course, led the pack with their stunning athlete stories. But the real winner? McDonald’s France came from the shadows and stole the spotlight when no one saw it coming! This wasn’t about outspending competitors. It is a masterclass in CREATIVITY & HUMOR over Budget. McDonald’s turned a clever move into prime-time news and lit up social media like the Eiffel Tower at night 🌟 Curious how they did it? Find out below👇 PS: which brand won Olympics 2024 in Paris for you? Drop your thoughts - I’m curious to know 👀

🔵 Is the CEO of Nike successful? No! 🔴 For several days, this incident has been discussed and challenged on LinkedIn 🔵 This is the profile picture of the CEO of Nike. Someone who entered the company as a trainee in 1988, which means approximately 1366, and became the CEO of the same company 36 years later. 🔵 Many friends consider this path as a sign of success. I think there are two options here. The first option is that in many ways, this does not mean success. 36 years of life is too much. That is to become the CEO of a place, even if it is Nike 🔷The second option is, in many ways, successful. 36 years for the job and business that you entered from the ground up and was successful - it is almost a standard and special method that can be followed in big companies, for example, this happens in Japan. 🔷 If they told you to work at Coca-Cola for 36 years, then you would become its CEO, would you accept? Naturally, the CEO, not the owner! What is your definition of work and life? ⬛ And what do you think about the options I've included above? Confidence is key. I started running with a Nike Group and the coaches asked, "How do you want to feel when our season ends?" My answer: Confident. Then I asked myself, "what would make me feel confident as a runner?" There was only 1 right answer, which was to PRACTICE. Rather than just applying this concept to my run club, I decided to apply it to an upcoming speaking engagement as well. Today I had the honor to speak in front of 100+ students at Discovery Partners Institute, a subset of University of Illinois Chicago, on the power of branding + LinkedIn. Walking away from this event, I felt an overwhelming sense of confidence. This experience reaffirmed a simple truth: 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞. 💙 PS, I'm happy to answer any questions about strengthening your brand on LinkedIn. #SummerSeries #Branding #Confidence

When a company invests in you year after year even though they can hire a bazillion other people…you’re bound for success eventually, because your employers believe in you and don’t want to let you go. Some companies should learn that the Pizza parties and the Mango days aren’t paying the bills. This is why many employees decide to switch jobs or eventually do their own thing. This isn’t “ass kissing” or “working for the man”…this is an example of a man who helped contribute to an MNC’s success and growth and how he was rewarded year after year for his efforts. 👏

Analysing the income statement of two important football clubs, it is observed that the value of merchandising revenues is higher in the team with fewer fans and less “important” technically: what could be the reason? A more creative management, which enhances the team's brand more. what to do? A deep preparation, a constant comparison with the experiences of others and the ability of one's mind to exploit all the potential. Switch it up: the best way to start thinking outside the box is to actually physically get outside your box. Transform your passion into a profession thanks the Master in Sport management of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Sportmaster Consulting. Soft skills are included in the programme.

In the journey of achievement, it's often more fruitful to showcase your capabilities and talents proactively. If you run well, metaphorically speaking, people are likely to notice your skills and offer opportunities – just like receiving Nike shoes without asking. On the other hand, actively seeking rewards or opportunities without demonstrating your worth might yield limited success. So, focus on honing your abilities, and let your actions speak for themselves. Success often follows those who lead with their skills and passion. #SpiritofAds
