When France Télévisions needed to deliver UHD coverage of the 2024 Games, it turned to Imagine Communications’ Selenio Network Processor (SNP). From 2110 IP gateway capabilities to UHD processing and JPEG XS support, the SNP’s versatility made it the perfect solution for seamless production. What do you think about where the RTS genre went? My comment on the link: it definitely feels odd that Stormgate and IMMORTAL: Gates of Pyre are the most notable undiluted RTS iterations I can think of. I'm thinking about the timing of F2P started taking off and StarCraft 2 was still a a boxed product. SC2 sort of shifted itself into selling add-ons while other games like League were built for that model and it didn't quite fit RTSs, it seems. Steam's F2P & RTS tagged games list is missing any substantial names for the last 12 years. Summoner's War probably the most and only notable one and even still, not a classic RTS along the same lines as SC2, AoE, TA, etc. With F2P models, a less than radical reception for new entries, new strategy genres and genre hybrids changing the emphasis of traditional RTS systems/mechanics (MOBAs, games like Bad North and Clash Royale, and more mobile-friendly games), and typically shorter game times, it seems like it presented a significant uphill battle for the genre. I think all of those things are solvable, but the overall interest has dropped, so the expectations have to change about the genre: it isn't going to print money like the genre used to do. Helldivers 2 initially sold over 12 million copies in its first three months. However, the game has since experienced a significant decline in player count due to questionable decisions by #Sony and #ArrowheadGameStudios. According to Steamdb, the player count has dropped drastically to 29,380 from an all-time peak of 458,709 just three months ago. The recent #PlayStation Network (PSN) controversy, where Sony restricted the game in 180 countries, has led to declining community support and contributed to the game's downturn. Despite quickly reversing its plans, Sony's handling of this issue has further distanced players.
