Should you opt for a WIN/WIN or a WIN/LOSE negotiation approach? Consider this process: - If high stakes and power, but limited common ground → a win/lose approach might be logical. - If it's positive across the board or about shared interests → aim for win/win negotiations. Wilbur Perlot from Peace Academy emphasizes, “It's important to stress that this normally is not either/or. Most negotiations take place on a continuum from hard bargaining to soft. Purely hard or soft bargaining approaches are rare." 🔥 Irregular Warfare has many faces, and I must admit, some are much more enjoyable than others. 📚Academics often view things from one perspective, while practitioners ⚔️🧨 usually have different views. ♟️ Strategists, typically experienced practitioners themselves, seek to innovate and make sense of complex situations. Unfortunately, policymakers 👨⚖️ often forget their roots or were never practitioners to begin with. Which one are you 📚♟️⚔️👨⚖️? 🔥Share your perspective and join the conversation! #IrregularWarfare #MilitaryStrategy #Academia #Practitioners #Policymakers #Strategy

☝When you have a major organization that throws biennial conferences, you need to bring out your best representatives, don't you agree? Having smart delegates can bolster faith in leadership as well as a better image overall. Hartselle Chief of Police Justin Barley was recently nominated to be a delegate at the National Fraternal Order of Police 66th Biennial Conference. His job? To represent the state of Alabama. 💪 The Fraternal Order of Police is no normal organization. It's one of the oldest of its kind and was developed to help encourage leadership among law enforcement professionals. Seeing Chief Barley as a delegate for this organization is a wonderful thing. We at Guardian Alliance recognize the importance of being present in major organization meetings. We believe that sending Chief Barley was an excellent choice and that his dedication to the FOP is a great honor that's well deserved. What can we say? It takes a star to shine among great professionals and we want to offer our sincere congratulations for this major professional achievement.✨ Our organization offers a different type of support for teams in law enforcement. Guardian Alliance is dedicated to helping police teams vet new candidates so that they can find people like Justin Barley for their own squads. Let's take a look at what others have to say. Do you stay active with the Fraternal Order of Police? Tell me the details. Do you have an officer in your team that you want to celebrate? Tell us about them in the comments below. At this week’s Friday Workplace Briefing Andrew and Nina will be questioning: is the CMFEU bad? Or are we bad for allowing it to become what it is? The history of the building industry and its ties to organised crime are well known. What will happen now, what happened in the past and what MUST we learn to stop it happening again. This is not a politics issue, it’s a leadership issue. Register to watch at: https://lnkd.in/gHcfkECK #fridayworkplacebriefing #CMFEU #buildingindustry #workplaceleadership

Those Impossible Ten Commandment Imperatives The Ten Commandments possess a remarkable quality that sets them apart from other biblical laws and commandments. They are written in a way that allows for varying interpretations, serving as a concise summary of fundamental principles. Unlike explicit and detailed rules, the Commandments provide guiding principles that can be applied universally, adapting to changing circumstances. This powerful story illustrates the importance of building skills to act with civility—FIERCE civility. As Joe explains, fierce civility isn't about giving in; it’s about building connections despite tension. These skills don't appear overnight. They Take deliberate work and practice. During a tense interaction during my first day teaching at a California State Prison, an inmate named Sam attempted to assert dominance by dictating where I should sit. This moment was a crucible for leadership and boundary-setting. Choosing to respond rather than react, I navigated this power play not with conflict but with fierce compassion, showing that true authority comes from respect, not dominance. Learn how to assert your boundaries with respect at the 'Introduction to Fierce Civility: Overcome Your Chronic Niceness' workshop on June 29th. We will explore strategies to maintain your composure and integrity in challenging situations. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eprngeXY

GDP2 (Growth&Development of People&Performance) . PIL(PerformanceImaginationLove) I love to help people grow. Let's keep sharing, learning and growing together.
LEADERSHIP GONE WILD I am saddened by what this Sergeant expresses as when people.see this will thend to think all officers are like him, which is absolutely not true; it is so sad because I have had members of my family who have been in the NYC Police Force and they would have never, never wished to harm a peaceful student protestor; here in an alarming display of rabid hate, this officer actually says: " I w a n t t o k i l l. a l l. o f y o u!" I can't help but ask what has changed? This was forwarded to me by a City University of NY Student, who is quite concerned, as I am sure many other students are. I am trying to understand from a purely HR/Human Management standpoint the root cause of this unhinged, unprofessional behaviour. Could it just be an isolated incident of. 1. Failed leadership (modeling the top) ? 2. Improper Training in - Conflict resolution - Communication - Stress Management 3. Bad hiring practices (improper testing for biased attitude; unresolved trauma; tendency towards violence)? 4. Counterproductive Reward and Recognition systems(rewarding and recognizing improper behaviour)? 5. Inadequate psychological support resources for suffering officers? I remain saddened and.baffled as I pray for peace, justice, humanity and good health for all. Would welcome.all.points of view. Thank you! #leadership #leadershipbyexample #bias #RewardandRecognition #conflictresolution
