Illinois Department of Human Services’ Post

For #DisabilityPrideMonth, IDHS celebrates Centers for Independent Living (CIL). Aligned with the mission of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination based on disability—CILs uplift Illinois residents with disabilities.   Today we feature the LIFE Center for Independent Living in Bloomington.   “LIFE Center for Independent Living is an acronym that stands for Living Independence For Everyone,” explains Rickielee Benecke, Executive Director of LIFE. “With over 70% of our staff and board members being people with disabilities, we recognize the obstacles that individuals with disabilities overcome and advocate for a barrier-free society.”   There are 22 CILs in Illinois—to get in touch with your local CIL, you can visit this website: https://incil.org/locate/
