Illinois Department of Human Services’ Post

For #DisabilityPrideMonth, IDHS celebrates Centers for Independent Living (CIL). Aligned with the mission of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination based on disability—CILs uplift Illinois residents with disabilities.   Today we feature the Disability Resource Center, A Center for Independent Living in Joliet, IL.   "Disability Resource Center promotes equality, accessibility, and independence,” explains Kevin Huckfeldt, one of DRC’s Independent Living Advocates. “We assist consumers in building meaningful connections and promote positive social experiences in all of DRC's programs.”   There are 22 CILs in Illinois—to get in touch with your local CIL, you can visit this website: https://incil.org/locate/
