The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child speaks to children having a safe place to live, play and learn. But also, it talks about children requiring special attention during emergencies as they are a high-risk group. Children are prone to - separation from parents and caregivers; physical and emotional abuse and neglect; sexual violence, sexual exploitation, and child marriage; mental health and psychosocial distress; exclusion and discrimination, trafficking, smuggling, and sale. Children also lack knowledge on safety precautions. What considerations/policy development has the Emergency and Children's authorities of your country published?

Building on their excellent ‘Care Through Disaster’ report from a few months ago, which looks at how communities and governments can build an infrastructure of care to help people thrive through worsening climate disasters, our friends at Australia reMADE have released a practical toolkit for all sections of society—from citizens to local leaders and governments. It’s a compelling vision of what a universalistic approach to climate disaster looks like and a thorough, actionable set of recommendations that ensure nobody is left behind when disaster strikes; and that people are prepared, supported, and resilient. Can’t recommend this report enough. https://lnkd.in/genQW9fM
