“According to S&P Global Commodity Insights, with government's supportive strategies, India's clean energy technology capacity is projected to rise significantly by 2030. Projections indicate that India will reach 107 GW in PV modules, 20 GW in wind nacelles, 69 GWh in battery cells, and 8 gigawatts equivalent (GWe) in electrolyzers. It's interesting how quickly answers to complex questions can surface. The journey towards shutting down fossil fuel power plants in India is set to begin in 2047, aligning with the Net Zero target of 2070. A productive day at the CEA-FICCI Conclave yesterday provided valuable insights: - India's power demand is projected to surge to 708 Gigawatts by 2047 from the current 250 GW - The aim is to achieve 500 GW of Renewable Energy by 2047, a significant increase from the current 200 GW - Fossil Fuel Power Generation is anticipated to peak around 2032 and gradually decline post-2047 - Key focus areas include enhancing skills, transmission & grid capabilities, financing generation capacities, and advancing storage technology to support a self-reliant India by 2047 - Decoupling distribution control is crucial to meeting the 2047 targets, alongside ongoing government efforts The optimistic outlook within the power sector stakeholders is palpable, paving the way for seizing emerging opportunities! https://lnkd.in/gyRiudjg One more step by Ministry of Power, Government of India for Ease of Doing Business and ensuring financial sustainability For ease of doing business by industries like Green Hydrogen manufacturers and to facilitate energy transition along with energy security by faster establishment of energy storage capacity new rules have been prescribed. Now consumers, having more than a specified quantum of load and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are allowed to establish, operate and maintain dedicated transmission lines themselves without the requirement of licence. By allowing such facility a new category of Bulk Consumers would emerge in the country, benefiting from more affordable electricity and enhanced grid reliability. This facility was already available to generating companies and captive generating stations.
