I had fun doing a #resume analysis, generating targeted updates, and producing a rewritten mockup...and it took me less than 5 minutes. The value of this is not in the resume that was spit out by the #generativeai system I used. The true value is knowing HOW to produce the responses that were spit out. I've already reworked resumes and cover letters for my clients (I bet you have, too), which they admitted were initially written using AI. Why? Well, they were well-written (for the most part)—but the AI couldn't do the following: Interview my client to help extract missed milestones and value. The AI can only produce what you tell it to produce. What if the client has failed to recognize the distinguishing experience/value/skills? Raise the bar. These clients were showcasing qualifications rather than positioning themselves to outpace the best candidates. Advocate. As career professionals, we champion, advocate for, and present our clients' cases. In doing so, our job is to research, dig, listen, and provoke deeper thinking so that we uncover more than what the client even realized. Push back. Sometimes it's not what you say but what you don't say that helps you write an action-provoking resume. Empower. A resume, at the master level, aims to land an interview and equip the job seeker with the insights to impress during an interview.
