Dear Valued Members of ICCN, I hope this message finds you well. As healthcare professionals deeply involved in critical care, your insights and experiences are invaluable to the advancement of our field. The Baylor College of Medicine is currently conducting a research study on the evolving role of specialist palliative care in the management of patients requiring ECMO support, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are keenly interested in hearing from surgeons, intensivists, and palliative care specialists who have been active since March 2020. As members of ICCN, your expertise makes you ideal candidates for this study. The research involves a voluntary, anonymous survey aimed at understanding your experiences concerning the role of palliative care in ECMO cases. Participation will be entirely at your discretion, and your data will be kept confidential in accordance with legal provisions. There will be no cost to participate, nor will there be financial compensation. If you are interested, please consider filling out the survey to contribute to this crucial research. Your input can significantly impact the field, helping to establish evidence-based practices that can optimize patient care. For inquiries related to the study, you may reach out to Dr. Astrid Grouls at 832-355-2628 or Dr. Yangseon Park at 832-355-2666. For ethical concerns, the Institutional Review Board for Human Subject Research for Baylor College of Medicine & Affiliated Hospitals can be reached at (713) 798-6970.
