“48% of (shelter) intake in the US were strays, and only 9% were returned to their owners” - those are heartbreaking stats. When a pet becomes lost, the best outcome is to get that animal back home, fast! The finder-to-foster program model works to do just this; keeping animals out of the shelter. And it’s had great success in the U.S.! Some shelters have doubled or even tripled return-to-home rates with the program, plus increased adoptions to boot. Jenifer Reed and Heather Kalman, who are with Human Animal Support Services at Austin Pets Alive! shared strategies with #ICAM2024 to successfully implement this type of program in your shelter. A unified approach. Helping to keep pets in their homes.
ICYMI: "Keeping pets in their homes reserves precious shelter space for pets in need of emergency sheltering. It saves families time, heartache, and the cost of fines that many cannot afford. And it saves stress on the pet who may do very poorly in the animal shelter." I'm beyond excited for our client, Invisible Universe 🥳 🎉 . If you haven’t seen their recent developments, you’re missing out! Did you catch Clydeo on the Today Show? 👀 They’ve been creating some of the most adorable characters, but there’s so much more happening behind the scenes. For a quick recap of what Invisible Universe is all about, here’s some info from Doug Shapiro's article: - Invisible Universe (IU) is an internet-first animation studio that develops animation franchises and distributes chiefly on YouTube and TikTok. - Instead of the traditional model of creating content and then distributing it, IU employs a highly iterative content development process, continuously engaging with its fan base and quickly turning new content. Fans play an active role in plot and character development. - Recognizing that falling entry barriers generally mean lower margins, IU doesn’t view video as a profit center. Video is a mechanism for creating franchises that are monetized through other channels. - Contrary to the perception that GenAI is currently a hobbyist tool, IU has fully transitioned to AI-enabled content generation. Over the last year, it has created its own fine-tuned models, trained on its IP, and developed a custom workflow. As a result, it has reduced development time on its videos from weeks to hours and reduced content development costs by over 90%. - It intends to productize its workflow as a IU Studio that enables fans to create content using its IP. Essentially - they are doing amazing things AND 🚨 Exciting News 🚨 unlocking some of their studio capabilities to the public for the first time! You can actually help Clydeo choose his next adventure in their AI art studio!! 😲 Trust me, you want to give them a follow! #clientshoutout #ai #technology #videoproduction #accountingfirm #excitingnews #todayshow #rescue Connected Accounting

Lifesaving animal shelter policy: - Do not impound eartipped community cats. They are already home outdoors and have been spayed or neutered. - If a non-eartipped community cat is impounded, immediately practice #TNR. Community cats are generally not adoptable and are extremely stressed in a shelter environment. TNR is the only humane, effective approach. The Lehigh Valley Humane Society has undergone massive transformations to our leadership, programs, and policies in the last half a decade that have radically re-shaped our organization. We were truly put to the test in 2023, with a staggering 34 percent surge in stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, amounting to nearly 900 more animals in need compared to the previous year. In spite of this, we finished the year with an 81 percent live release rate for cats and a 91 percent live release rate for dogs, exceeding the no-kill benchmark of 90 percent. This is a 24 percent increase in our live release rate compared to 2021. We are frequently asked questions about being no kill, but rarely do we find that the community understands what the term means. To that end, we would like to offer insight on its definition, its implications, and what it takes to become a no kill shelter. Today, we would like to share a comprehensive look at our 2023 shelter statistics: our animal intakes, outcomes, and live release rate, as well as data on the services provided through our many programs. Please click the link below to read our full statement of our challenges and victories in 2023, and thank you for your support! https://lnkd.in/gQcDyXeG #lehighhumane #LVHSProud

Pet ownership is on the rise in the United States of America, with more than 50% of the households having at least one pet according to Helen Woodward Animal Center. https://lnkd.in/gxA-dpmM Despite that, more than 6,000,000 cats and dogs enter animal shelters in the United States each year. While many pets get to celebrate finding their forever home through the efforts of rescues organizations, for regular cats and pedigreed cats. The worst statistic is this: there are over 900,000 cats and dogs each year that do not find homes and spend the final moments of their lives in the shelter. #remembermethursday #shinealight

Field Return to Home/Return to Owner is a successful strategy that keeps pets in their homes, preserving shelter space for those truly in need. Educating communities on this approach is crucial. Owners must ensure pets are microchipped and wear ID tags with up-to-date contact information. This simple step saves time, effort, heartache, and costs for owners while reducing stress for animals brought into shelters. By raising awareness and staying informed, we aim to achieve a No-Kill nation by 2025. Explore the blog by Best Friends Animal Society's Director of No-Kill Advancement, Tawny Hammond, MIS. We need to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. #AnimalWelfare #NoKillNation #PetOwnership #CommunityEducation #NoKill2025 #Advocacy #Awareness #Microchipping #ShelterCrisis #VoicesForTheVoiceless
