Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) can be applied in various applications, such as electronic devices, nanocomposites, supercapacitors, and batteries. The battery application holds the largest potential market due to the significant shift towards electric vehicles. But SWCNTs have intrinsic issues with low dispersibility and agglomeration. The strongly aggregated CNTs need to be perfectly dispersed in liquids for commercial product applications to enhance their performance. High-pressure homogenization is a preferred method for dispersing SWCNTs because it causes relatively little direct damage to the particles and can maintain their physical properties compared to other processes. The process also boasts excellent reproducibility, is easy to scale up, and offers fast production speed. Process with high-performance high-pressure homogenizers from Duoning, you can get SWCNTs with uniform distribution and no aggregation. 🔍 Measuring Our Footprint: The Impact of RTOs 🔍 Welcome back to my series on Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs)! Last time, we demystified what it means to be an RTO and introduced you to Danish Technological Institute. This time, I dive into the impact of RTOs by looking at two powerful stories that highlight our achievements. 🌟 Innovative Impact: The Story of MP3 by Fraunhofer The invention of MP3 by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is a prime example of successful research and development. Developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, MP3 revolutionized the music industry by allowing audio files to be compressed to just 10% of their original size. This innovation made it possible to store thousands of songs on portable devices, transforming how we listen to music globally. The successful commercialization of MP3 underscores the significant societal impact that RTOs can achieve. 🌍 Pioneering Sustainability: DTI's CETEC Project Closer to home, we at Danish Technological Institute are making strides in sustainability with the CETEC project (Circular Economy for Thermosets Epoxy Composites). This initiative aims to close the recycling gap for wind turbine blades, which are made from thermoset composites that are notoriously difficult to recycle. This breakthrough technology aims to achieve a fully recyclable wind turbine value chain, significantly reducing waste in the wind energy industry. The CETEC project has been widely recognized for its innovative approach, receiving the prestigious JEC World Innovation Award in Paris. This award highlights the project's success in developing a circular solution for recycling wind turbine blades. Additionally, CETEC has been featured in the journal Nature and received the Plastics Award 2023. 📌 What’s Next? These stories illustrate the profound impact RTOs can have on society through innovation and collaboration. But our exploration doesn’t stop here. Stay tuned for the final update: Assessing the landscape - What’s the state of play for RTOs in Horizon Europe? #RTO #ResearchManagement #Innovation #Impact #EconomicGrowth #CircularEconomy #ItsAllAboutInnovation
