As Women’s History Month 2024 comes to a close, I am grateful for the chance to reflect on the remarkable contributions of women both past and present. Often, we hear about a woman's success story, but seldom about the obstacles and setbacks that may have impeded progress. Women are extraordinary. They are powerful, compassionate, insightful, thought-provoking, results-oriented, and agents of change in both personal and professional realms. The journey to hone these qualities while achieving desired outcomes can be daunting. Why? Because all too often, there aren't enough opportunities to laugh, to enjoy the scent of flowers, to dance to great music, or to simply take a moment to exist. My admiration gravitates towards those whose words or actions have had a profound effect—Ida B. Wells, Toni Morrison, Shirley Chisolm, Patricia Harris, Constance Baker Motley, Catherine Johnson, Phillis Wheatley Peters, Mahalia Jackson, Harriet Tubman, among many others. To some, they may seem a disparate group, but to me, they are examples of courage, persistence, strength, character, the arts, motherhood, relationships, human rights, and justice. These women were the quiet forces who left legacies without seeking recognition, as well as pioneers who blazed trails with a fiery spirit, aiming to make a difference with every endeavor. As Women’s History Month draws to an end, let us: 1) Celebrate and uplift the incredible women around us 2) Recognize those who continue to make a significant impact, whether boldly or quietly 3) Support women, become allies for their growth, and contribute to reducing inequalities #Herstorycontinues
