Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) – France publishes the key principles it believes should guide the #SFDR review. Back in 2018-2019, the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) was designed as a non-financial disclosure regime applying to financial entities and products. However, it has been used in practice as a labelling regime by market participants, confusing investors. 👉 Thus, the AMF welcomes the European Commission’s stated intention to undertake a review of SFDR and calls for a thorough recast of the Regulation. The 2 AMF's main messages are the following: 1️⃣ The new framework should provide clarity in terms of product categorisation, and thus include product categories based on objective minimum criteria. 2️⃣ Conversely, the review should preserve a wide range for disclosures, seeking simplification wherever possible to focus on relevant disclosures for investors and taking into account other developments in the sustainable finance agenda. 👇 The position paper is in comments for any one interested in #sustainability, #ESG & #sustainablefinance

Irish Funds has published a Review of #SFDR Level 2 Disclosures in a Sample of Fund Periodic Reports.   Prepared by the the Irish Funds Environmental, Social, Governance (#ESG) Data and Reporting #Workinggroup, the paper conducts an analysis on the European Union Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) Level 2 disclosures included in periodic reports. The review looks at a sample of 146 periodic reports issued after 1 January 2023 and includes funds with year-end 31 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.    At the outset, the paper outlines expectations leading up to the Level 2 #implementation and context to SFDR Level 2 disclosure requirements. Irish Funds have just released a report with review of SFDR annual report disclosures. The conclusions are very much in line with what we see and recommend improving when reviewing SFDR disclosures for our clients representing the Irish funds industry. Good insights inside on EU taxonomy and GHG emissions reporting - 42% of funds reviewed disclosed specific carbon-related emissions reduction or carbon-related ESG exclusions. However, 90% of the funds did not disclose Taxonomy alignment exposure above 0%, and only 10% of the Article 9 fund sample had investments in EU Taxonomy aligned activities. The report also reminded on the Central Bank of Ireland's remark on importance of being clear what exact ESG characteristics the product follows - i.e. the report states that the disclosures have lacked detail, instead re-listing the exclusions applied by the fund, stating percentage exposed to very severe controversies, and stating ESG / Environmental Score with no elaboration. Overall, data availability is improving moderately across the asset classes. However, there is still significant progress to be made, and CSRD may help to improve data availability for the funds' reporting. #sfdr #irishfunds #sustainable #finance #EUtaxonomy #CSRD
