🚗 Imagine stepping into your car and the air conditioning system automatically adjusts to your preferred settings. ❄️ This is just one of the ways the Intelligent Car project at Škoda Auto is enhancing and simplifying the driving experience. By bridging the gap between industry and academia, this initiative allows students to apply innovations in real-world settings. "The academic world and industry need each other, and the best results are achieved when both sectors work together," says Tessa Talsma, innovation specialist who coordinates the project. ⚙️🎓 This collaboration not only leads to innovative breakthroughs but also enriches the academic curriculum and provides real-life experience to the students involved. 🟢 The Intelligent Car project was born from a desire to connect Czech Technical University with Škoda Auto, offering students the chance to become innovators. Students and researchers are given access to the latest technologies, including Škoda’s Enyaq, to test and develop new features directly. This hands-on approach helps to personalize the driving experience, such as the development of predictive air conditioning systems that learn from user habits. Motors have been intertwined with my journey from a very young age. It all started in 2nd grade when I got my first RC car. After the initial thrill of controlling it, I couldn't resist the urge to rip it apart and understand its workings. That was when I discovered the little 12V creatures known as DC motors. From then on, I was hooked. I experimented with these motors in every way I could think of: connecting them in series and parallel, even attempting (unsuccessfully) to create an infinite loop by connecting them shaft to shaft. In 3rd grade, while my classmates were busy making flowers out of tissues and ribbons for SUPW projects, I was creating my own cute motor projects. This fascination with motors followed me through high school, diploma courses, and my bachelor's degree. What began as playtime evolved into a full-time profession, where I now control these motors on a much larger and more complex scale. It's been 1.5 decades since that first RC car, but the excitement of seeing motors spin and take on loads has never waned. Future Friday Inspo 👇 Following up from last weeks post about our recent collaboration with the Royal College of Art - IMDC Royal College of Art on the topic of 'Communities'. Over the coming weeks we would like to show you a selection of really inspiring projects. Starting with project 'NEST' by Luke Woloszczuk - Veevers, enabling local benefits from a global system.  These students of the 'Intelligent Mobility' course were tasked with creating future mobility for specific communities. This is something that has rarely been done before in the automotive world. Firstly we encouraged the students to immerse themselves and research specific communities as a world building exercise. Then speculate through their design what vehicles could support the wants and needs of the people in that local. Through feedback rounds our FCE Mentors with the RCA Tutors guided the students in creating these really exciting and surprising outcomes. We are excited to show you some of the results to get inspired about what could be next for the future of mobility. Enjoy!    ___ COMMUNITY: BIRD WATCHING Focusing on the bird watching community.
