This #BlackHistoryMonth, we are celebrating and honoring a few of our providers and APPs who are essential to our team. Dr. Myriam Roby, Health Equity Clinical Outcomes Director/Hospital Medicine Provider What makes Black History Month meaningful to you? "Black History Month allows me to reflect on the past and present and undisputedly show gratitude, rejoice, and honor my ancestors and the fruits of their labors. Black history is American history. To seek change brings a sense of responsibility to continue to amplify the core message of transforming our societies to be equitable, non-judgmental, and inclusive of all people everywhere, irrespective of race, gender, or other social constructs. Also, having more representation in healthcare will allow for the Black voice to be heard and seen. Many Black people have contributed to advances in healthcare. The social determinants of health relate to the healthcare system. Black leaders, scientists, healthcare providers, educators, and activists' representation in healthcare is crucial. Their experience and appreciation of Black culture, community, food, and more add to the improved delivery of culturally competent patient-centered care."

Celebrating Black History Month: Leadership in Action Black History Month is a time to recognize and honor the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of the Black community. Leaders can celebrate this month both in the office and virtually by: 👀Hosting Educational Events: Organize workshops or invite speakers to discuss Black history and culture. 👀Spotlighting Black Innovations: Focus on the groundbreaking contributions and innovations made by Black individuals in various fields like science, technology, arts, and politics. This can include presentations, articles, or social media campaigns. 👀Supporting Black-Owned Businesses: Partner with or feature local Black-owned businesses. Let's embrace this month as an opportunity for learning, reflection, and celebration. Have any ideas to add to this list?
