Around the globe peak screenings loads generated due to extreme weather events can strain stormwater and sewage networks. This includes both hydraulic and solids loadings, as well as gross pollutants. Depending on the water management strategy, many parts of the globe rely on stormwater retention basins to manage these peak loads. Recently in Spain, HUBER provided solutions to three major projects with the purpose of managing peak screenings load during extreme wet weather events. The 'full flow to treatment' of a wastewater treatment works is consented by the authority and set by the level of its storm overflow weir. Unless someone adjusted the weir level, manipulated flow meters or the records, where does the illegal element come in? Maybe wastewater professionals with the insights can help explain 'dry spills' with better diagrams. BBC News - How much raw sewage is released into rivers and the sea, and what are the rules?

Factors you should consider for effective Groundwater Recharge 👇👇 1. Soil Permeability: Ensure the soil is porous enough to allow water infiltration for effective groundwater recharge. . 2. Water Quality: Assess the quality of the water to avoid contaminating the groundwater with pollutants or toxins. . 3. Catchment Area: Evaluate the surrounding area for its ability to collect and direct water efficiently to recharge zones. . 4. Aquifer Capacity: Understand the storage capacity of the underlying aquifer to determine the potential for recharge. . 5. Climate and Rainfall Patterns: Consider the region's rainfall patterns to ensure that recharge efforts align with natural water availability.

Heavy rainfall events are occurring more and more frequently, with immense amounts of rainfall occurring at certain points in a short period of time, overloading rivers and sewer systems. What measures can be taken to mitigate the effects? First and foremost, it is important to improve the absorption capacity of the soil and reduce the sealing of surfaces, but storing rainwater is also an option. And the sewage system should be equipped with backflow flaps. WarehouseAsAWaterBuffer Diana Diziain Thomas S.

What a great solution for areas susceptible to pools of water on major roads. This will enhance safe driving during the rains.
Permeable pavement offers a simple yet creative solution to bring a host of potential benefits to bear. Check out the list below!👇 1. Increases groundwater / aquifer recharge 2. Removes pollutants from stormwater runoff 3. Stormwater runoff can be stored then piped out of the system for reuse 4. Reduces regional flooding and impacts from hydromodification 5. Reduces in the amount of land needed for traditional stormwater management measures 6. Long life-cycle results in less maintenance over time (as compared to conventional surfaces) 7. Can potentially relieve Heat Island Effect in urban areas because permeable pavement can potentially absorb and dissipate heat more effectively than conventional surfaces

The most important factor is the soil your property is on. If there is too much natural moisture or the soil is made up of too much clay, municipalities don’t typically let you put a septic tank on your land! Soil works to separate the wastewater from the groundwater, acting as an extra filter to treat it! Bad soil = wastewater buildup!

In line with the recent water crisis in Bangalore and the underlying conversion of the once green city into a concrete jungle over the years, the only way to tackle such complex city problems is to incorporate such smart solutions and technology into the city's general restoration plan.
