My First #Mistake on The First Year of my #Career as #FieldOperator Taught me a Life Long #Lesson: #LessonLearnt from An #Incident in a Batch Process Plant: 👉 I started a #pump to transfer solution to main storage tank. 👉 Normal Pump Discharge Pressure was 3 barg but that day it was only 1.5 barg. 👉 My concept was clear, "If no discharge pressure fluctuation, means no #cavitation." 👉 I checked the pump suction tank level, it was reducing. 👉 I left the place but had a doubt "why discharge pressure is less today?" 😯 Drain valve was left open by previous #ShiftOperator near the main storage tank and all solution drained to sewer! Discharge Pressure was less because drain valve location was at ground level! #LessonLearnt: #NeverIgnore Even a Minor deviation in parameters at #WorkPlace, and behavioral change in #Relationships. Hello all! Check this one out! I had a late night call with an apprentice with a rack down. I went out to the store and up to the machine room, and started to check it out. My apprentice was already on site so we tagged teamed this call. Rack is low on charge, electronic oil pressure safety control fell off and shorted out, one of the compressors was tripped on the breaker, and the filter dryers are slightly plugged. Needless to say we had our hands full. We started to add refrigerant and leak checked. Changed out the oil safety. I picked up this leak around the corner with my electronic leak detector. I couldn’t even see the case but check out this video! It was leaking on the top of a service cap! Question time: How do you calculate your net oil pressure? What are the two (hint) pressures? What is your rule of thumb for net oil pressure on a semi-hermetic compressors? What pressure does the oil pressure safety say when it has good oil pressure and will continue to run? What is the max net oil pressure you could see on a semi-hermetic compressor? #neverstoplearning
