🌻🌱 Introducing the Community Fridge Network’s younger, greener sibling: The Community Nature Network 🌻🌱 What is it? It’s a bit like our Community Fridge Network, but for community nature projects. A brand-new nationwide collective, coordinated by Hubbub, which offers learning resources and funding opportunities, and enables groups to share knowledge and support with each other. The Community Nature Network aims to: ➡️Increase access and connection to nature with new or improved green spaces ➡️Channel funding into community-led green spaces ➡️Show that getting outdoors is for everyone – not just those who already seek it out ➡️Champion nature as a powerful hook to inspire planet-friendly habits Why is it important? We know how important nature is for our physical and mental wellbeing and that spending time in it can be a powerful motivator to inspire climate action. Yet a third of us in the UK spend less than an hour a week in green space! We’re on a mission to bring nature closer to people, and people closer to nature by supporting community-led green spaces to grow further (with both plants and people!). 🪴 Want to dig in? Check out the Network at https://lnkd.in/gdRgTT6x 🌳Interested in supporting community-based nature projects? Get in touch. We've built the network thanks to the support of Bentley Environmental Foundation and Wates Family Enterprise Trust, and now we're actively seeking partners to support its growth.

Community involvement is key to creating sustainable urban environments. 🌱🏙️ As our cities continue to grow, so do the challenges of urbanization on our environment. The impact is undeniable, from increased air and water pollution to habitat destruction. But together, we can make a difference! What's your favourite place and why? What if our communities were green, walkable, and affordable? This mindset could transform our communities and positively impact our planet. The challenges we face - climate change, health, equity, and inclusion - are global. But effective solutions often start at the local level - in our public spaces and neighbourhoods. As part of our commitment to creating thriving communities, we've collaborated with the Town Team Movement in this article to discuss how a placemaking approach can help create a better future for all: https://lnkd.in/gUui5dZN We’re also inspired by Relationships Australia NSW's custodianship of Neighbour Day and their impactful "Neighbours Every Day" campaign to build community and resilience. Please tag other organisations in Australia that you know use placemaking to create more resilient, inclusive, liveable and regenerative towns and cities. #ConservationVolunteersAustralia #NatureBlock #NeighbourDay #TownTeamMovement #Placemaking #ResilientCities #Cities4Nature #Wellbeing #Community #Australia #LocalAction

As Dashain celebrations unfold back home, I'm here in San Mateo County, focusing on my studies and preparing a paper presentation. While others embrace the festival spirit, I'm diving into research on public transportation and infrastructure in the region. My study examines the gaps in current transit systems, looking at how urbanization pressures and environmental sustainability challenges are shaping public policy. The aim is to explore solutions that can enhance accessibility and efficiency, benefiting local communities and supporting long-term development goals. It's a balancing act between staying connected to my roots and working towards impactful change in my field. #DashainAwayFromHome #PublicPolicy #SanMateo #UrbanDevelopment #Transportation #Sustainability #StudentLife #FestivalAndGrowth

Hey y'all! Today, let's chat about Community Building for Sustainability. Building a strong community is key to creating a sustainable way of living. It's all about coming together, sharing knowledge, and supporting each other on the journey to a greener future. 🌱 Here are some tips to foster community building for sustainability: 1. Host regular potlucks or skill-sharing gatherings to connect with like-minded folks in your area. Food always brings people together! 2. Create a community garden or participate in a local CSA to work towards a common goal of growing fresh, organic produce. 3. Organize clean-up events to take care of the environment and strengthen community bonds at the same time. 🌍 Let's work hand in hand to build a sustainable future for all! #CommunityBuilding #Sustainability #GreenLiving

The purpose of Venture for Nature is to further bridge the gap between society and the natural world. Through it, I will offer various types of tours, with 10% of the profits directed towards conservation and nature restoration efforts - these funds will support initiatives organized by the project, while also contributing to other NGOs dedicated to protecting the wilderness. Venture for Nature will serve as a platform where I can utilize not only my knowledge to make a difference in ecologically degraded areas where I can involve people directly; but also my creativity, where, through film and social media, I aim to expand education for the benefit of the environment. Venture for Nature will facilitate panel discussions, talks and other events, to further inspire more people to contribute to the preservation of the natural world. Come with us on a venture, and let's give back to nature. #climatechange #nature #conservation #restoration #ClimateAction

Sustainable Community Planning Ideas: Building the Future Together Sustainable community planning is about designing neighborhoods that meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to thrive. Key ideas include incorporating green infrastructure, promoting mixed-use development, and enhancing public transportation. By integrating renewable energy sources like solar and wind, and using eco-friendly building materials, communities can reduce their carbon footprint and conserve natural resources. Designing for walkability and bikeability ensures that residents can enjoy a healthier lifestyle while decreasing reliance on cars. Additionally, fostering local food systems through community gardens and urban farms not only provides fresh produce but also strengthens community ties. Water management is another crucial aspect, with strategies like rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling playing a significant role in conserving this vital resource. At our self-sustainable city project, we’re applying these concepts to create a thriving, eco-friendly community.
