Chemical Safety must be given Priority in order to avoid the huge risks in the company whether it's hazardous or Non-hazardous chemicals. - Material Safety Data Sheet : For every Chemical we use in the company we have Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) which includes all the information about the chemicals like it's storage temperature, usage purpose, respective Personal Protective to be worn (PPE) while using, risks associated with it for the persons and Environment, Protective measures to be taken in terms of contact, first aid and etc., - Chemical Storage based on Compatibility : All the chemicals must be stored in the hazardous substance cabinet. The main purpose is to provide a physical barrier that delays the involvement of stored chemicals. These are designed to restrict fire for a specific duration allowing time for emergency responses. Hazardous and Non-hazardous chemicals must be stored in the separate cabinets and make sure the signs are clearly visible on the cabinet - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : Always first read MSDS for clear understanding of the chemical and use appropriate PPE in order to avoid severe risks. Types of PPE used are : Chemical resistant suit (long sleeved), if it's so hazardous please use the mask with double filter (just to be more secure), chemical resistant safety shoes (mandatory overall), safety glasses (for the chemical not to enter in our eyes), Safety Gloves. In reference to below, consider the basics of RCA/ RCI, which of the following Root Cause(s) is/are behind the event: 1- Inadequate Procedures, 2- Human Error(s), 3- Equipment Failure(s), 4- Lack Of Training, 5- Poor Communication, or 6- Culture Issues (e.g.: impunity, widespread sabotage, toxic culture, etc.)

Question - Would you hold your affected eyes open with work gloves on that may also potentially have substance contamination? Apologies...I should have used the word 'worn'... Please don't misunderstand my question as I am not attempting to smudge any presentations...particularly this one, however in the HSE world we are always utilising examples as part of our day-to-day business be it descending a stairs correctly, addressing our PPE properly, bending and lifting etc and I always consider examples I may be setting as I traverse my worksites aware that I may be encouraging reflective responses from any and all observing eyes. I also feel its a good safety conversation starter when someone asks the 'why' question of something they may have seen you do or say. Equally, and as a positive I sense...the observers are often keen to verify if 'the safety dude' is 'walking the walk' etc, etc, etc so we do somewhat carry a target on our backs 😄. If I visit a worksite with a colleague I make a point of ensuring that any doors we pass through close behind us and seal or when descending staircases I lead and emphasise my contact points with the handrails...(not like a puppeteers theatrical pony) but you get my drift. More recently we have had a push on not placing work gloves into upturned hard hats so I make a point of this as well as many others. Reducing the potential for substance transfer to bare skin is already paying off I am pleased to say. The fact is I am absolutely certain that we replicate and do a lot of what we see done with repetition and by consistent example...hence my observation and question of the gloves being worn when flushing the eyes in the clip. Interesting to think that for anyone that hopefully has read up to this point, you too have considered door safety, PPE standards, eye protection, safe stair management, harmful substance transfer...and a puppeteers pony 🤣 so apologies only for the last one. Stay safe everyone and remember...'safety is never a compromise'
