Fun Fact: Did you know that Labor Day was first celebrated on September 5, 1882, in New York City? The holiday was born out of the labor movement's push for fair working conditions and the eight-hour workday. It became a federal holiday in 1894 after the Pullman Strike, a nationwide railroad strike that turned violent, highlighting the need for better labor laws and working conditions in America. Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of American workers who drive innovation and growth every day. Labor Day is a moment to honor the contributions of every individual who builds and strengthens our economy. As we approach Labor Day, it’s important to reflect on the true essence of this day. Labor is not just about the work we do; it’s about the purpose we find in it. It’s about the dedication, the resilience, and the collective effort that drive progress and innovation in every industry. Labor Day is more than just a day off—it’s a celebration of the contributions of every worker, from those on the front lines to those behind the scenes. It’s a reminder that every role, no matter how big or small, plays a critical part in the tapestry of our society. “The dignity of labor depends not on what you do, but how you do it." – Edwin Osgood Grover Whether you’re leading a team, managing a project, or crafting something with your hands, the passion and integrity you bring to your work is what truly matters. As we celebrate this day, let’s honor the purpose behind our labor and the impact we have on our communities. Let’s also take this opportunity to support and uplift each other, recognizing that our collective efforts are what keep the wheels of progress turning. Happy Labor Day to all who contribute to the growth, success, and betterment of our world. Let’s continue to work with purpose and pride. #LaborDay #PurposefulWork #DignityOfLabor #Leadership #Community

Advising companies in the innovation economy about cash: protection, movement, and overnight investing.
No clever earworms today. I hope the Labor Day weekend was good for you and yours. Riffing off this subject, take a moment to ask yourself: Does your organization have a business continuity plan (e.g., loss of power at the office)? What are our procedures if one of our employees is under threat in the workplace (e.g., disgruntled spouse, belligerent customer)? On Thursday I finished an online course entitled "Security Awareness Fundamentals" which includes such questions as above. Imagine the déjà vu I experienced when someone close to me found themselves under physical threat at their (retail) place of employment. No harm came to this person, but what I thought was notable is both the manager on duty as well has as security personnel on premise were at a loss regarding what their company's standard operating procedure was. Know your SOPs, folks. Someone being under physical threat is no time for on-the-job learning. We now return you to the rest of 2024 with 17 weeks left to get all those things you promised your boss(es) you would get done.
As we enjoy this long weekend, let's take a moment to honor the hard work and dedication of workers across the nation. Whether you're spending the day relaxing with family and friends or reflecting on the achievements of the labor movement, remember that every job contributes to the strength and prosperity of our communities. Happy Labor Day! 🌟💪

As we celebrate Labor Day, let's honor the transformative power of work and the profound legacy of the people who fought for labor rights, and those still fighting (fair wages, safe working conditions, workers' rights to organize, adapting to new challenges, including those posed by the gig economy, technological advancements, and global labor issues). Work is more than a means to an end; it’s a journey that allows us to build something meaningful—creating a life that reflects our values, respect, and developing brands aligned with our passions. Job creators, driven by deep purpose, make a meaningful impact through innovation and service, changing lives, nurturing talent, and contributing to societal progress. Today, we recognize the gains, what still lies ahead, and the essential workers who build our nations—truck drivers, train workers, manufacturers, construction workers, service providers, agricultural workers, utility workers, and technology professionals. Your dedication shapes our futures, provides for our families, and leaves a lasting legacy. Happy Labor Day! Give yourselves a moment to step outside of your thoughts about the toil and detractors, and celebrate the spirit of work and the positive change it brings to our world. God bless and be well!

Throughout our Forced Labor & Human Trafficking strategy refresh process, we heard a clear and consistent message to double down on our existing strategy because of its ongoing relevance, and a caution not to depart significantly from our work. So our three core conditions at the heart of the portfolio remain the same. These are the conditions that we aim to directly cultivate through our programs: 🔸 Worker Power 🔸 Safe Labor Migration 🔸 Corporate Accountability We’ll be doing a deeper dive into what each of these conditions mean to us later this week - keep an eye on our channels for videos from the HU team. 🔗 In the meantime, you can read the full strategy update here: https://lnkd.in/gEZF3gEe
