Having spent more than two years in campus recruitment, I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand hopes and aspirations that fresh graduates carry as they step into the professional world. Imagine a new graduate, full of energy and dreams, starting their first job. They're eager to learn – to soak up knowledge and gain experience. They look for someone to guide them, like a mentor, who can show them the ropes and offer advice along the way. They want their work to matter – to make a difference and feel proud of what they do. It's important for them to be part of a team where everyone feels included, respected, and valued. But they also want balance – to enjoy life outside of work and not feel overwhelmed. And they're ambitious too, hoping for chances to grow, learn new skills, and move up in their careers. However, as I eagerly scroll down to review the job requirements, my excitement diminishes when I see the familiar phrase: "X years of experience required." The fresh graduates like myself, these words are disheartening. It begs the question: How are we supposed to gain the experience you seek if we're not given the chance to showcase our skills and abilities? Experience is undoubtedly valuable, but it's a catch-22 situation for us. Without opportunities to demonstrate our potential, how can we acquire the experience you consistently demand? I urge recruiters to consider the immense talent pool of eager graduates who are ready to contribute and learn.
