One hour of smart people talking about HR - I loved the podcast episode "Development and Evolution of HR" with the one and only Dave Ulrich. Huge thanks to fantastic hosts Michael Esau and Simon Humphreys. https://lnkd.in/eChnhkmi I personally felt better after listening to that episode. Some highlights: - Evolution means we have all four stages present in modern organisations: personnel management, HR practices, human capital, and emerging human capability. They do not exclude each other, but are layered on top of each other. - HR is not only about people, it is about organisation. It is about teams and the way they are organised. - we know more about HR than we do. We are not moving fast enough. - executives now worry more about people and organisation. Intangible value is real. - 25% of intangible value is attributable to people. - companies need to look outside and build human capability to respond. - we need to build business plan, not HR plan - how do we give a sense of hope to all generations at work? - risk-taking is a "must have" part of development - what about hiring people who do not fit existing job descriptions? They might ignite the real transformation. - the job of HR is to help other business leaders see the value of what we do for business. And to bring the evidence for that. - we need the systematic framework to change HR. - the receiver of the gift is the one who defines value of it. Value is what someone gets from what you do. - optimism about the environment where people can be "self, autonomous and have personal progress" - your best year is the next 12 months of your life - take care of yourself so you can take care of others.
