It's funny how we change over the years. In years past, my go-to celebration was heading straight to the bar. 🍻 Yesterday I spent my 35th birthday in a saddle, doing a long, grueling but really fun cycle. 🚴♂️💨 Reflecting on personal shifts is one thing, but have you noticed it professionally too? 🤔 Goals you once chased might not even spark a flicker now. That's growth, and it's fascinating. It got me curious, how have your career aspirations transformed over time? 💼✨ #CareerGrowth #LifeChanges #ProfessionalDevelopment #recruitment #Quality

Stacia Gerdts recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary working at Morningside. Congratulations, Stacia! We asked Stacia a series of questions about her time at Morningside over the years. Here's what she said: Q: What’s something you’ve done at Morningside that you’re proud of? A: Became a Program Manager Q: Do you have any advice for someone new to this field? A: Take it one day at a time, continue to be open to learning and growing, be patient with yourself, the people served and stakeholders and be present. You will be greatly rewarded by the relationships you build. Q: What originally brought you into this field and fueled your passion? A: I realized the industry I’d been in for 20+ years was drastically changing, and my current employer [at the time] was not. I felt I had two options; change employers to continue my career in that field or I could look for a whole new career, as I still had many, many, years to work. I had developed a strong relationship with Morningside for at least 10 years through my (previous) employer, and on a more personal level, I've had a desire to work with folks experiencing life differently since high school, and felt this was a good opportunity to take a risk. Q: What have you learned from your 10 years with Morningside? A: I couldn’t have imagined the personal growth I've made and the wonderful people I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know. I am truly grateful to Morningside for believing in me and supporting my growth. I have learned everything! 😊 I had 0 experience before I came to Morningside and have learned so many things, I couldn't even begin to list them. Q: What has been your most impactful memory at Morningside? A: My most impactful memories are of the clients we serve, how it feels, and what a privilege it is for me to be a part of their successes and challenges, as well as see the pride they carry for [their] accomplishments. We get to see some amazing people do amazing things. Nothing can compare to that! #Morningside #supportiveemployment #ProgramManager #individualemployment #workanniversary #Congratulations #successfulmilestones #disabilityadvocacy

One thing I have learnt in my Decade long career journey is to avoid forming a Caucus when you join a new team, or when a new member Joins your team. It kills your ability, openness and willingness to learn and grow. You end up a redundant Angry Bird, without a Feather. Therefore, I urge you, if YOU are a culprit, please change this year. No gree for Caucus and Team amongst team spirit to kill your dream this Year. #newbeginnings #careergrowth #teamculture #growthmindset

As I sit at the airport, waiting to board a flight to Chicago for a meeting and team gathering, I find myself reflecting on the significance of this moment. It feels like one of the most challenging things I've ever done in my life, and it's not just about the work ahead. Today is a significant day for me as I'm leaving my son for the first time since he was born. It's not a long trip, and I had the option to go, but the decision was difficult for me. Motherhood has presented its own set of challenges, and now, being "far" from him for the first time adds a new layer to it. I don’t doubt my husband’s abilities to stay with our baby—he’s truly awesome and has shared every parenting duty with me from day one. But that doesn’t make leaving any easier, as this experience is new for all of us. I've always considered myself practical and focused, so I never expected to feel this vulnerable. Yet, here I am, navigating emotions I hadn't anticipated, wondering what this experience will teach me. The opportunity to meet with my team, who are spread across various cities and countries, is crucial. I understand the importance of connecting with colleagues face-to-face, building relationships, and strengthening the bonds that make our team unique. Being part of a team where each member comes from a different part of the world is a privilege, and I am eager to embrace this chance to learn, grow, and contribute. But this trip involves so much more than just work; it's about acknowledging the complexity of my own emotions and recognizing that vulnerability is part of growth. It's okay not to have all the answers and to feel uncertain at times. To all the working parents, leaders, and anyone facing similar challenges: you're not alone. It's okay to feel torn between your responsibilities and your heart. It's a journey we're all on together, learning to balance our professional and personal lives. Here's to embracing the challenges, learning from them, and returning stronger and more connected than ever. #TeamGathering #Growth #Vulnerability #WorkingMom #LifeLessons #ChicagoBound
