📝♻️ Sustainability class was in session for staff yesterday thanks to Kirsty Bishop-Fox of Sustainable Pathways. We came one step closer to living a zero-waste lifestyle through Kirsty's relatable everyday stories of sustainable changes and simple tips (both revolutionary and very achievable). It was an empowering visit from a wonderful educator to help us embrace sustainability in our everyday lives. Now for the next step... putting it all into practice. Wish us luck 🤞

A few weeks ago I attended the Intermountain Sustainability Summit with USU Sustainability. There were many great sessions, and I also got to chat with Jeff Speck! My favorite session was about "selling sustainability." Here are a few of the takeaways: - Don't tell people what to do. Instead put solutions in front of them, show the end goal, and give options that align with the end result. - People don't always trust data, you could end up pushing away people "on the fence" about your idea - Solve a problem people know they have, in a way that leads to your desired outcome - Get people onboard by identifying TRIGGERS (a promise about a solution that aligns with a problem they already have), BARRIERS (something that would prevent people from taking action, even if they agree on the action), and REASSURANCES (information that helps participants move past their barriers to act on their trigger) I'm excited to use these ideas in my work engaging USU students with sustainability!

Sustainability skills have an enormous role to play in building a resilient future. 75% of corporate leaders expect that all jobs will need sustainability skills by 2050. We need to prioritise training students and professionals at all levels to be able to meet the wicked problems we face.

Sustainability in the world we are in today is not enough. It must just be a stop on the way to revolutionizing our practices to restore and regenerate our one planet.

I love this line of thinking! We need to talk more about this idea and how it would transform our communities. #BeyondSustainability #regeneration #regenerativebusiness #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativeeconomy #regenerativedesign #regenerativefuture #regenerativeculture

The focus on sustainability alone isn't sufficient anymore. 🌱 It's crucial to regenerate forests, educate individuals in eco-friendly skills, support local communities to enhance their resilience, and take numerous other steps. These actions aim to elevate the physical systems in our surroundings, ensuring they're improved beyond their original state. Prioritizing regeneration over mere sustainability is key.

In this quieter time of the year, I committed to reading and learning about the inputs and outcomes of COP28, or the United Nations Climate Change Conference. 🌍 At first, wading through everything felt very overwhelming. Then, I found this infographic that illuminated my understanding of regenerative practices generally, and also provided a helpful lens to prioritize my COP28 study. 🌲🌴🌳 I’m now searching for what’s regenerative and really seeking to understand those proposals. 🧐 It’s certainly the most hopeful way to look at a post COP28 future. 🌞 Can’t wait to share my learnings. 🤓 #COP28 #RegenerativePractices #ClimateAction

Partners and Relations Lead at PlantVillage. I am here to harness the power of meaningful partnerships to drive PlantVillage success.
Today sustainability is a topic everyone is discussing and we all aspire to create a sustainable society in all aspects. Surprisingly 10 years ago I was debating about this discussion little did I know that it will have a major impact in my life several years later. reflecting at the debate it reminds me that truly sustainability is meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs. This debate here reminds me of the words of Francois-Henri Pinault " Sustainable development is a fundamental break that’s going to reshuffle the entire deck. There are companies today that are going to dominate in the future simply because they understand that.” I believe once we all understand what sustainability is and strive to achieve then we will be in a position to predict the future . It's nostalgic for me that I had this debate and today I am reflecting on the journey of sustainability and all I can say is that we must ensure we create sustainable communities.

🌿 As you climb the food chain of goods and services, there’s always been an exchange until you reach raw, natural, resources. Historically, this has left both nature and those who steward it fully exploited. 🤝 But for the first time, the idea of giving back to nature is being included in economic models — since we’ve never “paid” nature for taking from it. 🔒This is what the regenerative economy is looking to fix. We still have a long way to go in terms of adoption, but seeing the frameworks being laid is very encouraging. #regenerativeeconomy #regenerativeagriculture #natureconservation

Achieving the United Nations goals in 2030 involves encouraging sustainability and innovation. The development of green infrastructure and an 80% reduction in the use of fossil fuels is the best way possible. #environmentalsustainability #unitednations #sustainable #healthandsafety #ungoals #healthyplanet
