Today is World Nature Conservation Day, the aim of which is to create awareness about the importance of our environment, natural resources and safeguarding our ecosystems. It coincides with National Tree Day encouraging tree planting, environmental care and preservation. According to the founders of National Tree Day - Planet Ark, since it began in 1996 a whopping 27 million trees have been planted. Why not celebrate today and adopt a tree for just $5, we also sell koala food trees to landholders for $1. Land clearing for development is the main threat to koala habitat, by planting more trees we can preserve their rapidly shrinking habitat. Just last April, we announced that our Community Native Plant Nursery has distributed 964,000 trees which were either sold or given to landholders and habitat restoration groups across the Northern Rivers. A remarkable effort and something we are very proud of. #WorldNatureConservationDay #NationalTreeDay Adopt a tree: https://ow.ly/osCL50SsOiy Read more: https://ow.ly/cLnP50SsOix A full list of trees can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ghktVuui

👩🔬 🧬 How can funding native trees accelerate farmland regen techniques? Today's highlight: The Devery's Creek Project, led by Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. It's a patch rich with regeneration potential. This retired farmland preserves precious remnant Kahikatea swamp forest and a Significant Natural Area with regenerating wetland and forest habitats. 🌱 The 5,000 native trees you've funded for this planting will support the first stage of the team's ongoing project. They'll be tackling several knowledge gaps by assessing cryptic species (especially herpetofauna), installing fish passage aids, developing low-chemical approaches for land health, eDNA testing and water quality testing. Planting Projects are a national knowledge hub of on-the-ground insights. Their mahi and expertise is vital to the successful regeneration of Aotearoa New Zealand's land. 👇 Each native tree has an epic story. Discover them below. #naturerestoration #naturebasedsolutions #scientificdiscovery

Did you know that we prioritize a diverse range of resource values within the forest ecosystem? At Ntityix Resources, our management approach goes beyond timber harvesting to include a holistic view of the forest’s role in sustaining community, culture, and biodiversity. Our Key Focus Areas: • Cultural Heritage: Protecting sacred sites and honouring syilx traditions. • Fisheries: Ensuring healthy aquatic ecosystems for sustainable fisheries. • Old Growth: Preserving old-growth forests to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance. • Timber: Sustainable harvesting practices that balance economic needs with ecological health. • Wildlife: Conserving habitats to support diverse wildlife populations. We're transforming the landscape at Turkey Hill!🌱 Located on the lands of the Dharug people in Limerick, New South Wales, this property was revegetated by Greenfleet in 2019. Recently, our Revegetation Team inspected the site, and it is showing impressive growth in less than five years! 🌳 The trees at Turkey Hill are creating shelterbelts to protect grazing animals and restore parts of this mostly barren landscape. It's a great example of how Greenfleet and farmers can work together to improve land productivity while taking critical climate action.💚 The trees planted were carefully selected and are locally native to the area. They will be vital in revegetating the landscape and increasing the land's productivity. Welcome, Spring! 🌷 As we enter the growing season, remember to prioritize native and drought-tolerant plants for landscaping. Not only do native plants celebrate each region’s biodiversity, but they can reduce water use and provide vital habitat for wildlife and pollinators. Did you know the European Hamster can store up to 65kg of food in its burrow?! 🐹 That's like having your own mini grocery store underground 🥕🌰 These tiny critters only eat around 50g of food per day, meaning 65kg is a three and a half year supply! 👀 But there's more to these foragers than meets the eye. European Hamsters aren't just expert hoarders; they're also keystone species in their ecosystems. 🦗 They create vital habitat for countless other creatures by burrowing underground. ⛏️ Their digging activities help aerate the soil, improving its health. 🌿 They play a crucial role in seed dispersal, contributing to the diversity of plant life. Sadly, despite their important ecological roles, European Hamsters are facing a critical threat: habitat loss. As urbanisation and agricultural expansion encroach upon their habitats, these charming creatures are struggling to find the space they need to thrive. We need to make space for European Hamsters to do their important work, whether it's through supporting habitat conservation efforts or making small changes in our own communities to create hamster-friendly environments 💪 This way we ensure that future generations get to marvel at the sight of these remarkable creatures and benefit from the invaluable services they provide to our planet 🌍💚 Find this and other fun facts on our blog: https://www.kuyua.com/blog Read more about the European Hamster here:https://lnkd.in/dKwJ93rN And here: https://lnkd.in/d5HSUJEA #Biodiversity #KeystoneSpecies #FunFact #Rewilding Rewilding Europe

Our tree and grounds maintenance teams take care of over 25,100 trees in the district. This includes 137 different species of tree, with the most common being the English oak, Common ash, and Hawthorn. These trees have the potential to remove over 11 tonnes of air pollution and store 9,930 tonnes of carbon every year. During tree planting season, which takes place from November to March, our teams planted 150 additional trees across the district, with a focus this year on urban environments and housing areas. When we plant our trees, we continue to consider where they will most benefit our environment. This includes where they can help to offset the impact of pests and disease on our tree stock, such as the impacts of Ash Die Back. In November, we stored these young trees at our new site in Lyndhurst, meaning we could collect and deliver them for planting without travelling to a nursery, which further helps to reduce our carbon footprint. We’ll now continue to care for these trees, which support our environment in many ways, including providing valuable habitats for local wildlife. If you would like to suggest an area for tree planting on council owned land, or have any questions, please email [email protected] You can also find information about planting, maintaining, and managing trees on your own land on our website.

What do Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota all have in common? We're connected by trees! The Great Lakes Northwoods stretch across all three of our states, comprising over 60 million wooded acres of critical landscape. This vital landscape filters and provides high-quality freshwater, maintains species biodiversity, and naturally stores carbon. Previously decimated by large-scale logging and clearing by European settlers, parts of the Northwoods are still recovering, but we're seeing great signs of progress. Large portions of the Northwoods are bouncing back thanks to protection of forest lands and the adoption of sustainable timber harvest practices. As the forest ages and expands into areas that were once cleared for farmland, the animals that depend on this habitat are returning also. Here in Michigan, TNC owns and manages more than 96,000 acres of these woods in the Upper Peninsula, including the newly-expanded Wilderness Lakes Reserve. Read about why this landscape is so critical—and how you can help—at https://nature.ly/48yzh4u
