1 year as an Account Executive at Deel!!! 🚀🚀 I’ve learned a WHOLE lot but as I reflect on the last 12 months, here are some takeaways: 1️⃣ I love being a seller in the HR/payroll/compliance industry! The buyer personas I work with, the product, the business challenges that I help solve😍 2️⃣ Being a consultant and understanding key differences among competitors is important. 3️⃣ No surprise here, outbound is your lifeline. Want to gain control? Consistently prioritize a multi-faceted outbound motion. 4️⃣ A “system” that works for you & organization >>>> almost everything else 5️⃣ Hypergrowth sometimes means growing pains so maintaining positivity, controlling the controllables, and being an “early adopter” of new products, initiatives, and processes are crucial to success. 6️⃣ Being a part of a full-remote global team is AWESOME but still has some challenging realities. (Especially when your team mates are so cool and successful and you’d love the opportunity to observe them working in person!) 7️⃣ A LOT… and I mean a lot… of people want to work at Deel 😂 I receive several DMs a week from potential candidates expressing interest in joining Deel. 8️⃣ It is beneficial to make buddies from different departments, segments, roles to increase work satisfaction and collaboration. 9️⃣ Surprisingly enough, I feel like it takes about 10 months to really find your “groove” in role. Lately, my talk tracks have improved, my consultative recommendations come naturally, my dependence on internal resources while live on calls has decreased. Oh, where do I even begin? Let me tell you the story of why employees are leaving some companies. 🤷♀️ It all starts with a "wonderful" management team. They're so dedicated to their jobs that they don't even have time to talk to employees. They're always too busy to listen to employees' concerns. But hey, that's okay, because we all know that their decisions are always perfect and flawless, right? 🎃 And then there's the work environment. The constant stress, the unrealistic deadlines, the lack of resources, and the never-ending pile of work. Who wouldn't want to stay here forever? 🤦♂️ Let's not forget about the amazing benefits that employees receive. Oh wait, what benefits? Sure, they have health insurance and a retirement plan, but that's about it. Oh, and they can occasionally snag some free snacks from the break room if they're lucky. 👀 But the real reason all employees love their company so much is the culture. It's like a big family here. A family that constantly argues, belittles each other and throws each other under the bus. But hey, that's just how we show our love, right? So why do so many employees leave a wonderful company? It's a mystery, really. Maybe it's the lack of appreciation, the low pay, or the unbearable workload. Or maybe it's just because the employees are all crazy and don't appreciate a good thing when they have it. The employee comes and go is normal in the workplace. Employee joins a company with the purpose of learning new skills, growth and explore. No one want to join a company with the intention of resigning after just 6 months or a year. They leave because of factors like: Toxic work environment Low salary or underpaid Excessive work pressure Nepotism and office politics Employees don't want to change job frequently, it's the environment that forces them to do so. I’m about to wrap another contract… Here’s what I’ve learned this time around… 1️⃣ Working in (yet another) new industry means learning… and the knowledge/experience I’ve amassed in my career, only goes so far until I’ve learned the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ in a new world! 2️⃣ Doing any kind of work for a brand that you are not only familiar with, but are a fan of… is a total game changer! Your investment in the game just hits a little different! 3️⃣ However short term a project or an assignment is…you can still add massive value! Game changing value! 4️⃣ Contract work was never my goal… but I have found myself taking more pride in my work than ever. I done some really meaningful work and I’m so proud of it… (I don’t say that about myself too often) 5️⃣ No matter how cool a company is, or how amazing a brand you work for… the people you work with are still the most important thing… an amazing brand with a crappy culture is never going to be a great employer… but if you have the brand and the culture… wow!
