Understanding the Turing Test! 🧠✨ The Turing Test, proposed by Alan Turing, is a fundamental concept in AI. It measures a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior indistinguishable from that of a human. Dive into the basics of AI with me and explore how far we've come since Turing's groundbreaking idea. #ArtificialIntelligence #TuringTest #AIEducation #TechInsights #AIResearch

The Turing test used to be the key benchmark for artificial intelligence. The idea, going back to Alan Turing, was that a human interrogator would have a chat with a respondent, and the human needs to figure out whether the respondent is either human, or an AI. GPT has now officially passed that test. Would you be able to tell it apart from a human? https://lnkd.in/ettJx-Gc

Out today on #EDRM's JD Supra channel, Ralph Losey shares his conclusion to the Plato and Young Icarus Series: "Move Fast and Fix Things Using AI - Why It’s a Bad Idea to Slow Down Development of AI". In Ralph's own words: "Part One set out the debate in neoclassical terms between those who would slow down AI and those who would speed it up. Part Two shared the story of the great visionary of AI, Ray Kurzweil. Part Three told the tale of Jensen Huang, the CEO and founder of NVIDIA. Part Four shared the story of Yann LeCun, Turing Award winner, hero of France and chief AI scientist of Facebook. In this conclusion we summarize the series in both neoclassical and modern terms, and conclude with a call to action. Fly, Icarus fly!" THE INFINITE MONKEY CAGE: HOW I IS AI? Just how intelligent is the most intelligent AI? Will our phones soon be smarter than us – will we fail a Turing test while our phone passes it? Will we have AI therapists, doctors, lawyers, carers or even politicians? How will the increasing ubiquity of AI systems change our society and our relationships with each other? Could radio presenters of hit science/comedy shows soon be replaced with wittier, smarter AI versions that know more about particle physics... surely not! AI passed the Turing Test! Here's why that matters! 🤖 The Turing Test Explained The Turing Test, proposed by Alan Turing in 1950, evaluates whether a machine can convincingly imitate human behavior. During a text conversation, a human evaluator interacts with both a human and an AI. If the human evaluator can't reliably distinguish between them, the AI passes the test! ➡️ Why does it matter? On the plus side, this indicates that AI is closer to machines that think and communicate like us. On the downside, this indicates AI is getting better at tricking us. Here's a video explaining this in detail: https://lnkd.in/gpUdUHqE Follow for more! #AI #TuringTest #ArtificialIntelligence #ainews

So, we are all talking about AI being "the future". But it's probably just us falling for the end-of-history illusion. Depending on how far into the future we are looking, AI is probably still going to be "a thing". Now, if you are willing to spend some of your precious time on what lies beyond those marvels we are currently putting "into production", I'd encourage you to watch this amazing TED talk by Stephen Wolfram. And yes, to the end, even if your brain wants to hit the eject button at times. It's worth it. https://lnkd.in/eFzdqBfn
