I feel that we should remove the word 'relevant candidate' from the hiring dictionary because the company trains their current people to make them more efficient for a certain role, so why are we looking for just a perfect candidate or a relevant candidate who is readymade? Recently, a client reached out to me, seeking help in filling a few roles. As we discussed their needs, I asked several questions to understand the problem they were trying to solve and their expectations for the role. 📜 When I asked for a job description, the client said they didn't have one. 💰 When I inquired about the salary range, the client responded that they didn't provide one. 🤦🏽♀️ When I questioned the flexibility of the schedule, the client dismissed the idea, saying, "People who want to work from home are lazy." 💡 If you don't clearly state what needs to be communicated, you won't attract the right type of qualified candidates.💡 The hiring experience can be pretty horrific for many, if not most, candidates. Who is to blame? Many people are quick to point fingers, usually at the recruiter. I say, let's strive to communicate better. Let's be better partners. What would you do if your hiring manager changes the job requirements after you've posted the job? Well, here's what we recommend you do: 1. Understand the reasons for the change: - Ask the hiring manager for the specific reasons behind the change. - Listen carefully to their explanation and try to understand their perspective. - Be open to the possibility that the changes are necessary and beneficial. 2. Assess the impact of the changes: - Evaluate how the changes affect the job description and the qualifications needed. - Consider whether the changes are significant enough to require a new job posting. - Determine the impact of the changes on the hiring timeline and process. 3. Communicate with affected candidates: - If the changes are significant, inform the candidates who have already applied. - Provide a clear explanation of the changes and apologize for any inconvenience. - Give candidates the option to withdraw their application or reapply for the updated position. 4. Update the job posting: - If necessary, update the job posting to reflect the new requirements. - Be sure to highlight the changes in the posting to attract qualified candidates. - Consider reposting the job on different platforms to reach a wider audience. 5. Manage expectations: - Communicate the changes to the hiring team and ensure everyone is on the same page. - Set clear expectations for the revised hiring process and timeline. - Be transparent with candidates about the changes and the reasons behind them. 6. Document the changes: - Keep a record of the changes made to the job requirements and the reasons for the changes. - This documentation can be helpful in case of any disputes or legal issues. Note: It's very important to be flexible and adaptable to changes. Not easy but it's crucial.
