Six years ago on our 50th anniversary, then-Governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker honored us for our contributions by naming today, May 13, Hill Holliday Day. For 56 years we’ve stood on the foundations and principles stated in this 2018 proclamation–to maintain the highest standards of creative excellence, stay at the forefront of culture, tech and media, fight the daily attention-share battle, and build a thriving work environment with an inclusive culture for professional growth. Here’s to another 56 years of all this and more. Happy Hill Holliday Day!

In my previous post, I asked you to take some time to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments over the past year. So often, we spend the holidays celebrating our colleagues and team members that we forget to do the same for ourselves. In that post, you had a few journal prompts to help you reflect & celebrate the past year of your life as CEO. Internal validation is crucial as a leader, as we don’t always receive validation from those around us. After all, when you’re a CEO there aren’t as many true peers compared to other employees. And quite frankly, not having that validation, not having people who support and celebrate you, can be difficult. It’s lonely at the top. In fact, this is why I became a Vistage Chair and formed Nashville Execs. During my 20 years of working in the corporate world, I consistently saw c-suite executives who lacked support. Our Vistage groups bridge that gap. We meet one day each month to talk all things life and business. No, we don’t just do water cooler talk. We dive in deep to the obstacles you’re encountering as a leader and within your business. It’s your opportunity to get both the collaboration and challenge you need to take yourself and your company to the next level. Interested in learning more? Send me a message and let’s talk!

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This phrase, often attributed to the philosopher Aristotle, suggests that the total value or effectiveness of a group or system is greater than the sum of its individual components Leading alongside remarkable women such as S. Kathryn Allen, Esq., Theresa Harrison, Keisha L. Mack, PhD, Aimee Griffin, Esq., LLM, and Nic Cober, Esquire, is truly an honor. I consider it an honor to belong to a sisterhood that stands as a representation of the top 1% of Black Women-owned businesses. We've just concluded our third annual conference, The BOW Collective (The Black Owner and Women's Collective), held in Destin, Florida, where we experienced a #paradigmshift. Watch the video below for an inside look at how we BOW! The Focus: capital, contracts, and community. By the numbers: ⁃ Inducted over 70 new members ⁃ Total Collective membership of 200+ ⁃ 4 countries ⁃ 30 industries ⁃ 1.2 billion dollars in revenue The Bottom Line: We are job creators, innovators, and ready to take action. One of our key priorities is ensuring that Black women business owners receive the necessary support to scale their enterprises, expand their workforce, and maintain their positive impact on their communities. Founder & CEO @ Quest Media Group | Global Chief Communications Officer | Intl. Awarded Media & Brand Strategist
As a strategy-first communications and visibility firm, my clients and industry colleagues know I have not advised to post a 5min video in today's evolving social media universe. They also know that I advise to break rules when it's worth it. 😉 Please indulge me for a moment. I recently shared my induction into #TheBOWCollective, and have received amazing support and a few questions. While it is difficult for this communications exec to articulate (right?!) what it means for Quest Media Group to be part of a sisterhood of the top 1% Black women owned businesses, this recap of our recent induction ceremony and 3rd annual conference does the job for me, and certainly answers the great questions that have been flowing my way. About BOW Collective: ⁃ Focus: capital, contracts and community ⁃ Priority: support Black women business owners to scale, create more jobs, and continue community impact ⁃ Inducted over 70 new members in February 2024 ⁃ Total collective of 200+ ⁃ 4 countries ⁃ 30 industries ⁃ 1.2 billion dollars in revenue The Bottom Line: We are poised to take action and support your large organization with varied, scalable solutions. Feel free to reach out to me to see how The BOW Collective can help solve your greatest business challenges, while making your vendor and procurement search the easiest and fastest it has ever been. Thank you to our partners MassMutual, J.P. Morgan, #AcuityEvents, HR&Co. @PotomacHospitalityGroup #PotomacHospitalityGroup, Life & Legacy Counselors, #AnswerTitle, #CoberJohnsonRomney, #GeorgeStreet, #TheMECCAGroup, #FirstFinancialGroup, #CushmanWakefield, #CultivateAdvisors, #PinnacleFinacialPartners, Paramount and Pinterest, who not only understand the vision but play a special role in it. I tip my emerald green hat to our Founder Nic Cober, Esquire for executing on your vision that is shaping a stronger America. Watch the video below for an inside look into the power of community and innovation! It's worth it. 😉 https://lnkd.in/eyPCpDud #breaktherules #theBOWcollective #businesscommunity #womensempowerment ##womenshistorymonth #womeninbusiness

Financial Services Professional helping individuals and business owners to create, build, and preserve wealth
I think the biggest key to success is surrounding yourself with people who inspire you. Last night I was in a room full of people that inspire me every day to be better not only for myself, but for my clients. This past year with New York Life has developed my professionalism in ways I never imagined, and I can’t wait to see what my team and I accomplish in 2024. We’re just getting started ✨🏆 #newyorklife #2024kickoff #financialservices

The memories are endless and only matched by the lessons learned. My teams in Lubbock, Amarillo and Clovis are the reason to celebrate these 4 years. You guys make the communities you serve even better. You provide care for so many beautiful souls. To celebrate these four years. Here are some lessons learned: 1. Most hard decisions are made easier when wearing adorable slippers. My favorite office nickname to date is slippers. 2- When encountering an intense situation don’t handle it in isolation. My team has great ideas, I just have to be intentional at asking good questions. If you feel like you are over-communicating. You are probably just now communicating enough. 3- Plan for fun and always have a pulse on your energy as a leader. I can be intense and I know that about myself so I schedule fun with my team. That looks different everyday and from team to team but that is really where I get to learn about them and they are the most important thing. 4- Protect the culture. It is the foundation of who we are and how we thrive. Here’s to the next year! The best is to come!
