I have been sharing my message with the nation! Since September, I feel like I have been on a whirlwind tour of the US, sharing my message of Total Worker Health®—from New Orleans to Baltimore and traveling around my home state of Ohio.   From all my presentations,, this is what I have learned: 1. The Total Worker Health® perspective is resonating with employers across the country, as they are looking for better ways to recruit and retain valuable talent. 2. Total Worker Health® is not really a new topic, but it does require a different way of looking at the intersection of worker safety and employee population health promotion. It is when we combine the two that we can get greater results in employee well-being. 3. Employees are seeking companies that have a mindset that cares about their well-being and will increase their productivity accordingly when working for these companies. 4. Instead of “quiet quitting,” employees who are engaged in their work and feel valued are twice as likely to stay with a company that is showing their work is valued. Fantastic week of learning, networking, and collaboration at marcus evans Summits Employee Benefits Conference at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. Amelia Island. I met so many inspiring benefits leaders committed to driving better health outcomes for their employee populations. Some key takeaways include: 1. Employers can reduce the mental health stigma. Sara Richards shared how Red Bull supports better mental health by removing barriers to care and creating an atmosphere of transparency. 2. Wellness program ROI is strengthened with biometric screening data. Cecilia McKenney provided wonderful insight into Quest Diagnostics' strategy for population health by leveraging annual #healthscreenings to generate key benchmarks influencing employee benefits. More than 37,000 Quest Employees participate each year, providing hundreds of thousands of data points. 3. Effective DE&I is a whole company strategy. Yetta Toliver, DBA, LSSBB and Xerox are pioneers in the DE&I space, and she shared the value of leadership support, middle management, and EAP programs. What an inspiring week! Healthcare professionals operate in a high-stakes environment where there's no room for an off day. The quality of our presence directly impacts the care and advocacy we deliver to our patients. So, how can we support each other in showing up at our best? Here are three key considerations: 1. Intentionality: Amidst the demands of our profession, it's crucial to recognize that each of us faces personal challenges. Let's be intentional in acknowledging this and ensuring our colleagues are supported. A simple conversation asking about their well-being or what's new in their life can make a significant difference. When people feel genuinely valued beyond their professional capabilities, they show up with a sense of purpose. 2. Celebration: Take the time to acknowledge and appreciate your colleagues. Sometimes, we overlook the effort and resilience required to excel in our roles. By calling out their contributions and expressing gratitude for their unique skills, we foster a culture of appreciation and mutual respect within the team.
 3. Encourage Self-care: We've all heard the adage, "You can't pour from an empty cup." It's essential to recognize when our team members need to refill their cups. Consider implementing a self-care station in the break room with snacks or a quiet area with calming music. 
These small gestures demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of our colleagues and contribute to a healthier work environment.
Let's remain intentional in our efforts to elevate the workplace for our team. These initiatives not only boost staff morale but also play a significant role in staff retention and recruitment. Together, we can create a supportive environment where everyone thrives.
