Rediscover Your Backyard: The Power of a Local Escape Today’s a reminder to hit pause. Recently, I traded the office for a kayak and discovered a hidden gem just minutes from home. Paddling on the serene waters of a local dam was a revelation. The rhythmic lapping of water and the absence of city noise were an instant antidote to stress. There’s something undeniably rejuvenating about immersing yourself in nature, even if it's right on your doorstep. Have you ever felt the pull to explore your own backyard? I challenge you to uncover the hidden treasures in your local area. Maybe it's hiking a trail you’ve driven past countless times, trying that charming restaurant downtown, or simply spending a quiet afternoon in a local park. These simple pleasures can do wonders for your mental and emotional well-being. Remember, like the oxygen mask rule on airplanes, it’s essential to fill up your own energy tank before helping others. Taking breaks isn’t selfish; it’s a necessity. So, let's make a pact to prioritize self-care and explore the world around us. What are your favorite local escapes? Share your recommendations below and let’s inspire each other to unplug and recharge! #worklifebalance #mentalhealth #explorelocal #selfcare

What does p e a c e look like to you? Better yet, how do you pause to feel #peace? For me, water and #nature have always been synonymous with #tranquility. Breathing in fresh air helps me exhale stressors. Being near the water stills my soul. I recently captured the sun just right while paddling with our pooch on the “Hooch.” Days later, I can still hear the water bubbling and gently rolling around our kayak… and it’s helped center me during some very busy work days. You see, growing up my family did not go on international or beach vacations, instead we went camping and boating at state parks in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. We’d load up the coolers, pack the tents, waterskis and fishing poles…and head out for a weekend or week at the lake. No TV, no technology, just a cassette tape radio, and the sounds of nature. And now as an adult, these slower moments are not lost on me, nor do they need to wait until weekends or vacations. I try to pause for peaceful moments every day, even if in little ways. For example, in #Atlanta, we’re fortunate to have the #ChattahoocheeRiver in our backyards, and dozens of beautiful lakes and rivers within a 1-2 hour drive. It’s proven that just 20 minutes a day in green, natural spaces improves health and well-being. So, I try to take a stroll with the dog or my family at a park or nearby creek trail. Sometimes, I pack a snack and sit on a bench overlooking the river with a book. Or just step outside on my porch and watch the trees sway with the wind. Think again about what brings you peace. Perhaps it’s not being outdoors (though I encourage you to try it), but whatever brings you peace, I hope you embrace it and nurture it. Life is far too short to rob yourself of the peace you deserve. Happy weekend, friends. #worklifejuggle #mentalhealth #employeewellness #selfcare #whatinspiresme

Self-care isn't just a luxury. It's a necessity. ☀️ One of my favorite summer self-care tips is to take advantage of the longer days by grounding yourself with an evening breathwork session outdoors. Let the warm earth beneath you and the gentle summer breeze guide your breath, releasing tension and inviting tranquility. This and other simple practices can help you stay centered and rejuvenated, no matter how busy the season gets. 🌿✨ #summerselfcare #grounding #breathwork

We love this advice! To us at www.cure-ated.org this means do things daily that: 1) Get you in Nature - like touch your bare feet to the ground or get sunlight in your eyes. 2) Get a little bit uncomfortable - mild stressors like cold or heat can stimulate good things in the body. For example, if its cold outside, try not putting on that jacket until you actually get cold first, then put it on. #StayFeral #wellnesstravel #resortwellness #wellnessresort #travelwellness #retreatwellness #holistictravel #selfcaretravel #transformativetravel #transformationaltravel #cureatedwellness #hospitalitywellness #itmatterswhereyoustay #wanderlustwellness #menstravelwellness #cureatedtravelerwellness #curatedresortwellnessservices #spawellness #sophisticatedtraveler #voyageursophistique #travelersophistique #visitingwellnesspractitioner #conciergewellness

I love this excerpt from my lovely Spring Retreat co-host, Caroline Homfray 's latest @reframetheview blog 'Find the light'. 'Many of us might feel a bit low or lacking in winter – but we’ve made it through lots of winters before. We’ll already know things that help, so it’s worth bringing those into consciousness so we can actively choose them. Find the Light. There will be breaks of sunshine through the winter, and I’m going to take advantage of them whenever possible. I’m prioritising getting outside in the lightest part of the day, and re-organising other tasks around that. At this time my deadline for a walk in daylight is 3 pm! Just a short walk around the local park, or even standing in the garden with a cup of tea directs my attention outwards. When you get to know a place well you can see what’s changing.' ~ Caroline Homfray, Reframe the View What do you do to ensure that you are getting enough light in the winter? Feeling burnt out by the daily grind? Us too! Sometimes the best cure is a good dose of nature. We all know we should spend more time outdoors, but let's be honest, between work, errands, and that never-ending to-do list, it can be easy to forget about the amazing world right outside our door. But here's the thing: spending time in nature isn't just good for the sake of pretty pictures (although those are pretty awesome too). It's actually good for our minds, bodies, and souls. A walk in the park, a hike in the woods, even just chilling under a tree – it all has a way of calming us down, reminding us to breathe, and reconnecting us with something bigger than ourselves. The more we connect with nature, the more we appreciate it, and the more we want to protect it. Imagine a world where everyone takes a little time to soak up the sunshine and fresh air. Pretty cool, right? Let's get outside, explore the awesomeness of nature, and show some love for the planet that keeps us going. #NatureConnection #OutdoorLiving #NatureTherapy #EcoMindfulness #Wellness
