🌟 #WisdomWednesday 🌟 In honor of Suicide Awareness Month, let’s focus on fostering a supportive work environment where mental health is a priority. Leaders and teams play a crucial role in creating a workplace that promotes well-being and resilience. Especially now with the loneliness epidemic, managers need to find ways with remote & hybrid work to treat people like humans and not robots! Here are some actionable tips for leaders to help make a positive impact: ⚪ Promote Open Conversations: Encourage an open dialogue about mental health. Normalizing these discussions helps reduce stigma and makes it easier for employees to seek help. ⚪ Provide Resources: Ensure your team is aware of mental health resources available, such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), counseling services, and crisis support. For immediate help, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 at 988. Here's their website: https://lnkd.in/gNbwjtaN ⚪ Encourage Work-Life Balance: Promote a healthy work-life balance by setting realistic expectations and respecting personal time. Encourage breaks and time off when needed. ⚪ Train Leaders: Equip managers and leaders with training on mental health awareness and support strategies. This can empower them to recognize signs of distress and offer appropriate support. ⚪ Create a Supportive Culture: Foster a workplace culture that values empathy, inclusivity, and support. Recognize and reward efforts to create a positive environment. ⚪ Implement Mental Health Policies: Develop and communicate clear policies that support mental health and well-being, including flexible work arrangements and mental health days. ⚪ Be Proactive: Regularly check in with your team, not just about their work but their well-being. A simple “How are you doing?” can make a significant difference. Remember, the well-being of your employees is integral to a thriving and productive workplace. Leadership has to take on a drastically different approach with the scale of the mental health crisis. Let’s work together to create an environment where everyone feels supported and valued. ❤️ #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellbeing #SupportEachOther #suicideawarenessmonth #suicideawareness

Today is World Mental Health Day and this year's theme is "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace." It is a perfect place to focus on, because for most employed people, you spend the greatest stretch of time in a day in your workplace. Think about it. In the workplace, you also deal with the conjunction of personal life stress, that is not checked at the office door, with the pressures of deadlines, toxicity, etc. that many workplaces still have. The result is compounded challenges to mental health in the workplace. So, it is imperative that we begin to normalise having conversations about mental health in the workplace, plus develop the practices, programmes, initiatives, to enhance our employees' mental well-being. When I began my "Supervisory Management" programme about six years ago, I never even mentioned mental health in the Health and Safety module. Post COVID, the need for that focus is glaring and so I now include it, plus even facilitate an "Emotional Wounds and the Workplace" module. So, take some time to reflect on the matter or mental health, especially in the workplace. This video, with her irreverent approach captures the issues well. #lisabecklesconsulting #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealthmatters #training #workplace #emotionalwounds https://lnkd.in/efXtGjwi

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, a crucial time to raise awareness and support each other in the workplace. It's essential to recognize the signs of someone struggling and to know how to offer help. Here are some tips on how employees can look out for each other: 1. Open Communication: Encourage open and honest conversations about mental health. Let your colleagues know that it's okay to talk about their feelings and struggles. 2. Check-In Regularly: Make it a habit to check in with your coworkers, especially those who seem quieter or more withdrawn than usual. A simple "How are you doing?" can go a long way. 3. Offer Support: If you notice someone is struggling, offer your support. Sometimes just knowing someone cares can make a big difference. 4. Promote Resources: Make sure everyone is aware of the mental health resources available, such as counseling services, hotlines, and employee assistance programs. 5. Create a Positive Environment: Foster a workplace culture that prioritises mental health and well-being. Encourage breaks, promote work-life balance, and reduce unnecessary stress. Signs Someone Might Be Struggling to Cope: - Changes in Behaviour: Noticeable changes in mood, energy levels, or work performance. - Withdrawal: Avoiding social interactions or isolating themselves from colleagues. - Expressing Hopelessness: Talking about feeling hopeless, trapped, or having no reason to live. - Increased Absences: Frequent absences or tardiness without clear reasons. - Physical Symptoms: Complaints of physical issues like headaches, fatigue, or stomach problems that don't have a clear cause. - Risky Behaviour: Engaging in reckless or harmful activities. Remember, your support can make a significant difference. Let's work together to create a supportive and understanding workplace. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealth #mentalhealthfirstaid #TDC #LOSEP24 #skillsshop

Relational tension is a major cause of stress and mental illness, yet many wellbeing strategies lack measures to address this. The number one cause of workplace conflict is misunderstood differences in personalities and work approaches. Roughly half of every long-term couple relationship ends, often causing family breakdown. One of the main contributors to homelessness and suicide rates is relationship breakdown. On the flip side, strong relationships at work and at home strengthen resilience, boost mental health and support people in living longer, healthier, more productive lives. Improve wellness by improving people’s ability to do relationships well. The 4 Habits – helping you do right by your people. #WorkplaceWellness #StressManagemen #Wellbeing #WellnessWednesday

The only Mental Health Strategy you need for a healthier workplace. The Leadership, Policy, and Support Rule. This simple yet effective technique divides your strategy into 3 key parts: → Leadership Buy-In: Top management must show commitment to mental health. This sets the tone for the entire organisation, promoting a culture that values psychological well-being. → Comprehensive Mental Health Policy: Develop a policy that outlines the management of psychosocial risks. This includes addressing work-related stress, bullying, harassment, and excessive workload. A clear framework makes employees feel supported and protected. → Psychological Support and Resources: Providing services like Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) or access to mental health professionals is not a mental health strategy, it is just a service. #mentalhealth #workplaceculture #wellbeing

Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day, a powerful reminder that mental health is not just an individual responsibility—it's a collective one, especially in the workplace. As employers, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to create environments where employees feel safe, supported, and heard. Here are three key actions every employer can take to foster mental well-being: 1️⃣ Create a Culture of Openness: Encourage conversations about mental health by breaking the stigma. Let employees know it's okay to not be okay. Build an environment where they can speak up without fear of judgment. 2️⃣ Provide Access to Resources: Ensure that mental health support is accessible. This could be through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), mental health first aiders, or external resources. Make it easy for employees to seek help, and let them know it's there. 3️⃣ Promote Work-Life Balance: Chronic stress is one of the largest contributors to mental health struggles. Encourage a balance between work and personal life by offering flexible working options, reasonable workloads, and adequate time off. A well-rested employee is a healthy one. Every life lost to suicide is one too many. By taking these steps, we can all play a role in prevention, ensuring our workplaces are not just productive but truly supportive environments where everyone can thrive. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealthMatters #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceSupport #EndTheStigma https://lnkd.in/ekbzGwia
