The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Community Living (ACL), has unveiled a robust series of initiatives aimed at addressing the critical and longstanding shortage of direct care professionals. This workforce, the backbone of support for older adults and people with disabilities, is crucial for enabling millions to live with dignity in their communities rather than in institutional settings. The new measures, part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s broader efforts to bolster the nation’s caregiving infrastructure, promise a significant step forward in ensuring accessible, quality care for some of society’s most vulnerable. Certified Dream Builder transitional and Veteran Coach l Empowering Resilience & Overcoming Challenges; teach self-advocacy and guide you through the process l🎖️Female Veteran, SGT USMC Medically Retired.
Transitioning into civilian life, especially with a disability, can be a daunting journey. I understand this firsthand, as I am a medically retired veteran of the Marine Corps who has been living with Multiple Sclerosis since 2004. Navigating the processes at the VA can sometimes be tricky, and it’s not always clear what benefits and resources you’re entitled to. That’s where I come in. As a certified “High Value” Empowering Vets Coach, I have the knowledge and expertise to guide you through these processes. My mission is to empower you to advocate for yourself, understand your rights, and make the most of the resources available to you. I am here to help you navigate the VA, understand your disability, and work towards your goals. Remember, a disability does not define you or limit your potential. Together, we can navigate this journey and build a fulfilling life beyond your service.

Strategic HR Leader with robust communication skills, driving technological and people management innovations for Organizational success
As Memorial Day approaches, we take a moment to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our nation. This day is not only a reflection of gratitude for our freedoms but also a time to acknowledge those who continue to serve, including our veterans, active service members, and the dedicated professionals in retail, healthcare, police, and fire services who often work through holidays to keep our communities safe and supported. At our company, we strive to respect the significance of this day by enabling our team to spend quality time with their families. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we offer flexible work-from-home options and early releases before major holidays. As we pay tribute this Memorial Day, I’m curious to learn how other organizations accommodate and support their teams, especially those who must work during holidays. What policies or practices do you have in place to ensure these essential workers also receive the recognition and rest they deserve? Let’s share and learn from each other, showcasing how we can honor our heroes and support our dedicated workforce. #MemorialDay #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkLifeBalance #EssentialWorkers #HolidayPolicy

June 19th marks the annual observance of Juneteenth, commemorating the day, in 1865, that 2,000 Union Troops reached Galveston Bay, Texas carrying the news of the 1863 abolition of slavery and the emancipation of enslaved people across Texas and the former Confederate states. Following the end of the Civil War, the Juneteenth proclamation legally ended one shameful chapter of U.S. history. Today, Juneteenth has evolved into a "Second Independence Day:" a celebration of African American history and heritage. The struggle for civil and equal rights continues, and for GAP, that is evidenced in healthcare equity, including eliminating barriers to health and wellness. GAP is committed to improving the lives of all people, and providing intentionally inclusive brain health education and information about participating in clinical trials is one way we are doing that. We are also building and nurturing relationships with community-based organizations to improve research and treatment opportunities for people traditionally left out. GAP Offices are closed today in recognition of this important historical event, and with reflection on how we can continue to improve the lives of all people, all at once, together. #Juneteenth #HealthcareEquity

It's incumbent upon every member of society to extend a helping hand to the elderly and the helpless. These individuals have contributed to our communities and societies throughout their lives, and it's only fitting that we reciprocate their efforts by providing support and assistance when they need it most. Whether it's helping with daily tasks, offering companionship, or simply lending a listening ear, our gestures of kindness can make a world of difference in their lives. By assisting the elderly and the helpless, we not only demonstrate compassion but also foster a sense of unity and interconnectedness within our communities. It's through these acts of kindness and empathy that we strengthen the fabric of society, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. Moreover, by acknowledging the value and dignity of every individual, regardless of age or ability, we cultivate a culture of respect and empathy that benefits us all. In the end, lending a helping hand to the old and helpless isn't just a moral obligation—it's a reflection of our shared humanity. By prioritizing the well-being of those who are most vulnerable, we cultivate a more compassionate and caring society for generations to come. So let's commit ourselves to supporting the elderly and the helpless, enriching not only their lives but also our own in the process.

Let me take you on a journey to realise your full potential. I work with leaders and managers guiding you to the best version of yourself so your organisation thrives. Experienced Chair and Trustee
This is a really valuable insight into the challenges many people face when trying to get into the workplace when they are also coping with disabilities. Government and the workplace needs to better understand what individuals can do, and what support they need in order to work.
Rather than casting disabled people as lazy or entitled, the government needs to enable and support them into work. Victoria, our policy research assistant, shares her experience ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e2ZxyG3V
