As I was watching my grand dog, Chief, I came to realize that we need time for ourselves and just sit under the sun and watch the beautiful sky and enjoy the breeze and nature. Why is this important? In order for us to recharge and take care of our mental and physical well-being. It allows us to relax, reflect, and focus on our own needs and desires. In this blog, I'd like to explore the concept of moon salutations in yoga. As a society, we tend to live and function in a predominantly masculine energy. This energy often manifests as a focus on action, achievement, and competition. While this energy can be productive, it can also lead to imbalances such as forcefulness and aggression. I believe that moon salutations can provide a powerful counterbalance to this imbalance. They are a sequence of yoga poses that are designed to invoke the feminine energy of receptivity, intuition, and compassion.
